Did the Nissan dealership rip me off...

Nissan made me pay $1200 for a new clutch on my car. I think it was excessive. They charged alot for labor. The sad thing is the car was a 2000 with only 11,000 miles on it at the time and we had bought it from a competing nissan dealer about a week earlier. But we had to take it to the satanic dealer a few days before to have a glance over to activate the extended warranty. They might of done something. They claimed that the 2k and up tranny is very difficult to get to and takes hours to get to. How much would it had been to just get an ACT clutch installed? Of course my parents wouldn't let me talk to the service people and they wouldn't let me go aftermarket at the time bc they paid for my extended warranty and were worried about voiding it. And since I had the money in my account they made me pay for it, but if anything happens to any of my siblings car since they are broke and don't work they get it for free from my parents. Just venting, but do you think I got ripped off?

Someone needs to inform your parents that it is standard policy for a nissan dealership to rip people off. You didn't get ripped, you got "dealershipized."

Welcome to the nissan family

You bought this car used, less than a month ago, right? How many of those 11,000 miles did you put on the car?

If you put on 1,000miles, go to the dealer you bought it from and get them to re-imburse you for 90% of the cost of the clutch replacement.

If they refuse, try small claims court.

WTF?! Tranny hard to get to?? The tranny is in the same damn spot every since Nissan switched the Maxima to FWD in 1987. What idiots those Nissan mechanics are(no suprise to me)
1) You got shafted royally by the dealer. Clutch replacement should not cost over $600 or so.
2) You got shafter by whomever sold you the car. 11,000 is way to short of a time to wear out a clutch.
3) Come to think about it, you might have been shafted again by Nissan as the clutch might not have worn out to begin with.

Ummmm. Shouldn't the clutch be under the warranty that you bought or did I miss something?

Either way you got COMPLETELY ripped..... $1200 for a CLUTCH?????

I don't think so unless that part was clearly defective. Brake pads, tires, clutches and any other "wear" items are not usually warrantied.

I got my rotors and brake pads covered for free. It took a little bit of arm twisting, but they did it.

And even under moderate abuse, a clutch should last over 11,000 miles.
