as for as keeping the max. i WANTED to keep it as daily driver and convert it to full gutted interior and roll cage the bitach and do real racing in it. but i'm saving up for the LSD from cattman, and its just getting so passe.

Congrats on the Z! My coworker is getting one, and all he can do is talk about it all day long, that's how excited he is. Money sure cures all ills, when you get that car who cares about your blown Maxima anymore, it's like a piece of junk next to the 350Z. Did you see the one on eBay, VIN#000001? It was 61k last time I saw it.

 

Something I keep reminding myself since I sold my maxima and bought the GVR4 .... fast cars need patience and a lot of money

Maybe this will make you feel better
During a normal Sunday Drive approx 6 weeks ago this happened
1) Pressure plate warped
2) Pressure plate springs unevenly bend
3) Clutch decides to experience Catastrophic failure and shreds itself up into 50 pieces
4) My slave cylinder craps out

While doing that I decided to do the following things
5) Rebuilt trans since 1st, 2nd, and Reverse are grinding
6) While rebuilding the trans I find out my Center diff is broken
7) Take my head off to do valve stem seals since my car was burning a lot of oil
8) Find out I have to take my bottom end apart because my upper ring isn't sealing properly anymore
9) Both my front axles are dead and the ripped boots spit 5 pounds of grease all over my chassis
10) My injectors are dirty beyond belief and barely flowing...new injectors

the list goes on and on man ... meanwhile 6 weeks later here I am. the car will be done tommorrow and I can't wait, it was all worth the wait.
I don't want to bore you guys...this is just to cheer up cheston to let him know there are other people suffering just like him without their fast cars...

Y pipe blows.. - annoying noise
Clutch blows.. - had to get a tow truck to take me home

Here's what has happened to me within the 6 month timeframe of purchasing my car.

1. After picking up Max, got home, realized one wheel was cracked and all 4 tires were split at the sidewalls.
2. Sent in cracked wheel. ADR kept for 6 months before denying the warranty on it.
3. Bought new Maxxim 18" wheels. I singlhandedly stripped the clearcoat off of all 4 wheels while waxing them. All 4 wheels ruined after having them for 3 days.
4. Bought brand new RH Evo 18"s from another .org member. After I drove to Discount Tire to have them mounted, they told me that FedEx raped one of my wheels. I rode around peglegged with 3 RH Evo and 1 stripped Maxxim.
5. FedEx denies claim on damage to wheel due to insufficient packaging.
6. While cleaning engine bay with Castrol Super Clean, the Bottle leaks and gets all over my front grill. I have to strip and repaint entire front grill.
7. While painting brake calipers, paint rips through two layers of plastic cup. Paint gets all over garage floor, brake rotors, and leather interior.
8. Unorthodox Racing mislabels UDP boxes so I had the wrong UDP installed by aftermarket shop and uninstalled by dealership after having 3 weeks of trouble starting the vehicle.
9. While my car is in the shop for 3 weeks because of my defective UDP, my car gets hit with blue overspray from another car. The bottom side of rear bumper also has mysterious gouges all over it.
10. Last night, after picking up our new Nissan Xterra from the person we bought it from, a foul ball from a softball field manages to find it's way directly into the rear door panel.
11. After I unload the "cracked" 19" wheels for $200, I come to find out that it is nothing more than a scratch.

That's all I can think of for now. I think I have the worst luck in the world.

My AAA car is laminated and taped to my dashboard and the number is on speed dial on my cell phone.

The point of this thread is if you want to make your car fast it is going to break, there is NO way around it. You can pay tens of thousands of dollars to make it reliable but it will only last for soo long.

If you aren't ready to deal with the downtime, money, and brainpower it takes then don't bother.

Well put. It's sad that there really are no "perfect" aftermarket parts. I'm done modding. My experience has been nothing short of miserable.

well cheston if it makes you feel any better i was at a nissan dealership in so cal..they rolled off one 350z black it was beautiful..they where detailing it and 2 hours later i was sold...42k out the door...but here is the catch the car was bought for a 17 YEAR OLD!!!!!!...mommy paid cash and let him drive it off the lot....so it could be worse....

Things arent that bad cheston come on now i think i might have you there. I got a 2k2 Vette ZO6 as a Graduation gift from my rich uncle who i havnt talked to in like 3 years oh well i decided in January to send it off to mister John Lingenfelter for his new 7k Supercharger (Just cant swing the 23k Twin Turbo kit) Just got the car back 3 weeks ago. And what do i do. Show the biotch off, lol well within 2 hrs of the car comming off the transport the clutch goes just beautiful. Well got that taken care of 1 day later. Lingenfelter clutch works like a champ haha doesn't stop there. Guys get this.. I rosted the **** out of the tires they ended up shredding vettes have a wicked possi so both went, ended up catching somehow during this whole thing i stripped the gears in the rearend i have no idea how the hell i managed this but i did. All in all this grad gift ended up costing me 4 grand not including the supercharger. After all this it's true there is no replacment for Displacment but i am loving my max more and more. Not to mention the Timing cover chain in my max was leaking and if any of you know how that goes there is a lot of work involved in that whole ordeal. Brian

No. I top that. I drive a VG Auto (doesn't bother me), and I'm unemployed, yet I still have bills to pay. You may get a small paycheck but I get no checks at all. Oh, I broke up with my girlfriend and she hates my guts. Hm, I'm still a virgin too. And darn proud of it (kinda).

- o yeah, i got into an accident and my car is screwed up big time.... if its claimed a total i loose money because i financed it, if they fix it wont get it back for 5 weeks

life isnt as bad as i make it seem, i just dont have good patience and stuff like this really makes me mad
