Hype about NISMO!?

Nismo does not even offer anything interesting for the Maxima! Not even a english catalog. As if every one here is driving a Skyline?

IMO, Putting a Nismo sticker on your Maxima is equal to putting a Type R sticker on your Maxima.

it probably won't be a lot of engine upgrades

most likely suspension tightnening and stuff like that, much like TRD is doing for celicas and such

If the powers that be over at Nismo don't produce some serious engine mods for the Maxima(aka "Gods Chariot" ) then to hell with them, either they don't realize that we are a big enough market or they just flat out don't care. I don't know how big Maxima's/Cefiro are over there in Japan but here in the US we are large and if they don't realize this then they will lose out on a huge chunk of change. I thought that with Nismo opening up shop here in the US they would be our life saver to the lack of aftermarket support there is for the Maxima. But if you really think about it Nismo would be like another Stillen company straight up sodomizing customers with over priced parts, with that being said my respect goes out to companies like Cattman, Warpspeed, Custom Maxima etc. who provide affordable parts particularly for our community.

The only things us Maxima owners will ever see are the universal intakes (HAIs), keychains, shiftknobs, and mugs.

Someone call Nismo and ask them about the maxima. You'll quickly find out they're clueless. It's as if Nissan is completely blind to the Maxima following in this country. The honestly don't seem to know that we are here and are willing to feed them cash for performance parts. Thats why we muct continue to ignore them just the same and make our own parts.

Have you called them? Look dude I just came back from the dealership when I spoke with one of their technitions who races a 2002 SE-R in SCCA. I had him call NISMO for me to try to get soem insider information. He basically told me they had no clue or idea of anything at all.

I am well aware of the aftermarket that will be availible since this engine is so widely used. I have already given that same speech to other manufacturers trying to get them to make parts for us. And guess what, none of them give a rats *** either. Please tell me if you get any further with them becasue I certianly would lve to know. But in the meantime I'll continue to make my own parts.

Re: Hype about NISMO!?

Just went into the dealer and they said they don't have anything yet except the shift ***** and stickers. Supposedly gonna get a catalog in like a couple of months.

They better not be jenke like TRD. TRD sucked for the Celica, all they made was a body kit.

Are we all calling the same person? I contacted them and they said I could get some Race cylinder heads for my engine. Also I could get a high capacity oil pump, forged crankshaft, ISKY cams or VG30DETT rods + pistons. Of course this is for the VG30 . Maybe you guys should try a different approach, like trying to find out the part#s for the internals of the JDM VQ30DET. Is everyone upset that they can't call NISMO and order a Y pipe or cone filter relocation kit? What kind of NISMO parts is everyone looking for, its not like they/you wouldn't put on the NISMO sticker anyway .

Nismo is like a foreigner coming into the country, remember they are just coming to america. They dont know much yet, but soon they will. Good thing the VE is pretty versatile.

Nismo has been in this country for about 20 year already. Is that still new?

in japan (and around the world), modding ususally take place for the young people who can only afford something less than 2.0 L (tax will kill most people if over 2.0). like a 240sx in the US is a 180sx in japan. even for something over 2.0 L, they got many nissan cars that are better than the maxima, like the DET version, the GTR, etc. beside, they got all the aftermarket companies trying to compete and those company will always beat nismo's price. I guess, basically, modding a maxima is "only in america" thing.
just hope nismo can see the maxima future and decide to do something, but I don't expect a lot because of the market. they won't have more parts than stillen for sure. But again, who will buy parts from stillen nowaday anyway (except the supercharger and body kit, at which only a small portion of the people have). we got much much cheaper intake, exhaust, sway bar, strut bar, cosmetic things, etc. if they come up something for the VQ engine itself, good, but nismo doesn't do this for the maxima. well, again, how many maxima people will mess with their engines anyway? we are family sedan owner!!!

Engine mods

Hey, even saturn hase more performance parts than the maxima! Internal mod components, if available, are verry hard to find. Even Nissan itself supports only Z, or the straight 6.

I'm not a sticker fan... but i would still put a nismo sticker on my car ... even though we know the maxima is the red headed step child when it comes to Nissan Motorsports. The GTR bein the prodigal son followed by the middle child Z and the younger brother 240.

And let us not forget that with MazdaSpeed, TRD and such, you can mod the hwll out of your ride, and since its a company owned branch, you still get warrantee work done.

If we are comparing aftermarket support for both cars side by side then I totally agree with you(we don't even come close), but keep in my mind we are a large community as far as enthusiasts go. The Honda scene will always be bigger though and they will always have more coverage then us in the import mags and in the overall import culture, but all in all we are a large community and we have yet to peak.

--I think it is great that maximas arent as common as other sedans. After all what BMW owner expects to be smoked by a big *** family sedan anyways? So nismo dosn't give a S#it, others like Stillen will figure out that we are a demanding group of drivers and get their act together.

Stillen has figured out that they can sell a supercharger and a body kit at a premium because a) can't get it anywhere else, or b) their kit looks the best. That's all Stillen has figured out, and they will make no more figuring attempts. If someone pays for their overpriced strut bar or intake, well then that's just gravy. All I'm saying is don't look to Stillen, look to the "good guys" like Brian Catts or Warpspeed or CustomMaxima to help us with aftermarket parts.

Hmmm, you would think that with the wonderful VTEC you wouldn't need aftermarket cams...
