What brand of Gauges to buy?

I've been looking at some extra gauges for an unmentioned upcoming mod. I was wondering what the real difference is?

VDO?
Autometer?
Sunpro?
HKS?

I've read that most people use Autometer, but what makes it beter than SUN or VDO? I know I remember seeing VDO gauges in both a Toyota and Honda I've owned as stock components. Then I see this Sunpro stuff and it has what appears to be pretty much the same gauge as Autometer. Is it just trendy to have Autometer(paying for a brand)?

I have no idea what guages are "better" than others they all do the same thing....Autometer is just what everyone has....so I don't know it is up to you what you want the look Summit has the best pricing....or you can get the Summit brand....

Autometer is just the pick of choice because of it's reputation, quality and reliability. Price may also be an issue. I paid about $60 US from a local shop around here for a boost gauge, but I've seen people selling the HKS boost gauge for nearly double that .. I'd go with autometer.

SunPro = Cheap and very poor quality.
VDO = Hard to find so usually expensive.
Apexi = Very nice (many types) but expensive.
Autometer = Industry standard. Reliable and fair priced.
HKS = Expensive but good quality.

I used autometer without problems, but I looked for VDO without much luck.

If I order a guage does it come with the wires and the hookup stuff too? Autometer that is..

I'm thinking about also getting this cyberdyne RPM/MPH digital gauge... its just a LED read out in 1 gauge.

I already have some extra gauges for an unmentioned future mod!

I chose the HKS 60mm electrical warning guages. It's great to have all the fittings included. The instructions are OK. The two drawbacks with HKS are $$$$$ and if something should go wrong warranty work may be difficult. Apexi' also has a excellant reputation but I could not find a reasonable price for those.

I love my autometer guages. If you want guages then its them. I also would recommend apexi if you want like a SAFC or RSM to monitor more in depth and best of all digitally.

I would use the Apexi RSM, but unless you have an aluminum dash kit their "star trek" design doesn't match anyones interior. I would like all the amenities that the RSM offers... but I'm really only interested in the Rev/Speed and the cyberdyne is very conservative in its design..black 2 1/16 dial guage. Speaking of pillars... Are there any 3 pod pillars for the maxima/i30? I could only find a 2 pod. I'm also going to put the rest in my dash with a single din stereo.

nope. No 3 pod pillars. Some people take a 2-pod and 1 pod and vinyl them together to make a 3 pod.
