Intersted in a $2800 SC kit? Will fit 95-03
Intersted in a $2800 SC kit? Will fit 95-03
Hey guys I am currently looking into designing a new SC kit for 95-03 maximas. The kit will fit all years the same and I am aiming the price to be $2800 or less. I am going to hold off on the details until I have one on my car and have the kit copyrighted. The kit will be easy to put on and much more tuner frinedly, the belt and pulley will be easy to remove. I also plan to offer several choices for fuel pumps.
Well if your intersted let me know, the better the responce is the quicker I am going to get the ball rolling on this.
Ohh and does EPTuning sound like a decent company name to you?

Honestly.. I like the price.. but HP numbers need to be at LEAST as high, if not higher than stillin.
I am not knocking you... I am VERY happy that someone is trying to compete in this market...
But, when push comes to shove , I would spend the extra $400 or so dollars for a stillin kit for 20 or so more HP..
BUT if your offering a more tuner friendly system.. the money maybe less import
Hopefully this makes sense and it does not seem as if I am bashing you. I am not.. just trying to offer constructive critism
I think IT'S A GREAT IDEA.. BTW

EPT? Pregnancy test?
j/kWould it be a Vortech or an Eaton? Personally, I wouldn't mind giving up maximum power potential for reliability and a clean bay, with minimal relocation, if possible. I like the Comptech setup or the TRD Solara setup more, especially if you could integrate a VI into the manifold (but I may be getting ahead of myself).
The price sounds good.
Did I mention I like reliability?

Good luck!

And for people out there looking for a more powerful kit I am going to try to offer a choice of pulleys so you can decide just how much power you want.

I think a lot of people are interested, but if it is not a lot cheaper than the stillen kit it you might have trouble selling it. Once a product holds a large market share it is difficult to sucessfully market a similar product even if it is better and cheaper.
But I would be interested if the price was better than Stillen and more reliable.

How about START WITH 2K2/2K3 and work your way down? The earlier years already have options... we don't! I doubt the same kit will work on all those years so if you have to pick, start where you'll be the only one in the market.
Ohhh, I've been waiting for this...

For me, choosing between Stillen or other brand is not an issue. Chances are, the OTHER SC wil have lower price than Stillen. The choice is obvious.
What stillen sells is basically a Vortech turbine with Stillen's own piping. Is stillen's piping reliable? of course. Plumbings dont break down.
Thus, ethan's kit is going to be reliable too. The question is if he really comes out with a kit, how many people are going to be buying it? And is his SC kit REALLY coming out or not.. I hope it does. Soon..
What I hope the kit offers is this: In order of importance.
1. Ease of install.
2. Price !!! Ethan, anyway you could bring this down to $2500?? pretty please???
3. Reliabilit is not a concern to me. SC is not a super duper complex space ship or something. If a car can't handle the SC, then something is wrong with the car, not the SC unit.

i'm in if its for auto
but you should lower the price first so more people can afford it, and then when u get a bigger customer base, then you could start marketing more, and gain more business that way. and earn more word-of-mouth sales.
glad you are taking the time to work on a SC, please keep us posted.

There is a guy over at Bimmerforums that did the same thing. He used a Vortech blower and fitted it to a E36 BMW. He sure didnt get the power he had hoped for. Also, he wanted to sell @ 2800 but he ended up coming in around $3200.. I think he went for reliability over HP and he ended getting less that good results for 3K.
just because its cheaper than stillen doesn't mean that its better.. lets see how this pans out before we jump to conclusions and get overly excited.. expensive or not.. stillen sucks or not.. its a decently made kit and though it has it quirks .. it does perform and do a good job..
cheaper doesn't always mean better option for you..

Personally.. i would let Ethan abuse that kit for a little before i jumped on it.. at least we know that Ethan knows how to put performance parts to their limits.. if he can't break it.. then its good to go

i am not knocking ethan or the company makign the SC.. but i see alot of people talking **** about stillen.. even though i don't have any stillen products on my car.. you guys need to know that lots of Research and Development went into that stillen kit.. they didn't just slap parts together and boom .. it was done..

its sounds like a good idea.... but if we were to look at the number of times that people post a thread asking people if they want a turbo or supercharger and then look at what happens - well lets just not get our hopes up too soon.

.Sprintmax, it looks like I am going to use a centrifugal SC, probably a V1 or V2 Vortech unit (whipple is not gonna fit). And before I release anything I will put it threw a grewling test

Congrats on the good idea!!!
Just ensure you give the members and others good customer service. Good customer service goes a long waaaayyyy!!!! I myself had my issue with stillen and I have manners to speak to people over the phone!!!
Prepare yourself to get some customers!!
