Ding King: Review

It sucks.

Maybe Arizona is too hot, but the glue peels right off. I cleaned it properly and followed the directions to a T.

The worst part is that it takes FOREVER to clean the glue off the car and the plastic pieces. I tried three times with no success.

By the way, their special glue and solution is nothing more than a hot glue gun with regular sticks and rubbing alcohol. This could be easily duplicated with a piece of flat plastic, a glue gun, and rubbing alcohol. Then just pull. You'll get the same effect as the tool they send you.

It's going back to the manufacturer. I knew it was too good to be true.

I just used it too

Used it on my I30 and wifes '96 accord. I was able to get it to work.
The larger dings were reduced by ~80% and the small dents by ~95%( if you look at the door surface from an angle you can see a slight ripple in the metal where the small dents were.)

I had no problem getting the glue to take a firm hold on the metal by doing the following:

Before starting, clean the dent with Mineral Spirits to be sure all the wax is off and then make sure the dent is completely dry.

Let the glue dry for 20 min. (instead of the 5 min. suggested in the instructions) before attempting to pull the dent out.

Repeat the pulls at least 5 times for each dent.

Make sure all the old glue is off the dent and off the puller before attempting the next pull, or you won't get a solid bond. (I found if you just lightly soak the old glue with their green solution the glue comes off easily)

Overall, I would rate the product a B+. I was able to make every dent quite a bit smaller but I could not make the surface perfectly flat. I think it is good to have on hand so at least when you come home with the next dent you have something to make the dent smaller and less noticeable.

The bottom-line: dings s***. They are a fact of life. I see 2 S500's in our co. parking lot and both are dinged. When a car is clean, its panels are like a sheet of glass. Any imperfection can be seen. There is no dent removal that's gonna change that. When the car is clean, any bodywork will also be visible to a good eye. So what's the purpose then? If a person is that concerned just let the car get dirty and most dings are "95%" not noticable. Do you fellas know that there's no such thing as a ding in body-shop lingo? It's called a DENT.

I'm going to wait 30 minutes tonight. It was just so frustrating scraping the glue off afterwards, but I'll give it another go..... It was 110 degrees last night and fairly humid because of a storm.

Regardless, I am convinces that you could easily duplicate this product wth a regular glue gun, a rod with a flat piece of plastic at the end of it, and a bottle of rubbing alcohol.

I tried again and I waited 30 minutes to pull. This thing is garbage. If you really want to try, you can make one yourself. The design is very simple.

Glue gun
Regular glue stick
flat piece of plastic (to go against car) with rod sticking out of it (to pull)
Rubbing alcohol to clean before and after

The mechanism just pulls it off. Just make sure that you pull straight.

Well there's a 30 day money back guarantee, so I'm just gonna return it. Plus one of the plastic thingies was broken when it got here, so I'd recommend just buying a new one...

What do you mean by a piece of plastic with a rod sticking out of it? how are you attaching the rod to the plastic? I'd like to give it a go....hail damage, small dings, I was going to buy one of those kits but if I can do it myself, I'll try that first. Like I said how do you plan to attach the rod to the plastic?
