Whine-inducing bent wheel...
I hit a HUGE bump in the road a couple weeks ago, causing my passenger and me to bounce off the headliner, even with seatbelts on. WTF! I circled-back to see what the h*ll I hit, and found one damn stealthy bump! I almost had to get out of the car and run my hand over the road to find it...
I came to find out one of my O-Z Monte Carlo wheels got bent out-of-round by just enough (about 3/8") to cause an annoying shimmy. I contacted O-Z about a replacement wheel, and I found out my wheel style was discontinued (crap!). I also found out from O-Z that they strongly discourage wheel repair.
What are my options? Must I buy a new set of wheels? Can the out-of-round wheel be fixed? Why does O-Z discourage repairs? Has anyone had this happen and then successfully arrange for the *city* to pay for replacement?
Thanks folks.

i'm sorry to hear about your wheels
i'm going through the same problem with one of my rims.
i think the city should pay for that ****. the roads have no right to be in the condition that they are in. every one who lives in nys should get free shocks when they need it.

You can have the wheel fixed with no problems. There is a wheel shop near where I live that does nothing but refinish and repair wheels. The previous set of tires that I had was terrible for letting my wheels bend when I hit stuff (I haven't bent a wheel now with the Toyos), so I've had to get a few wheels fixed. Then they are as good as new. Also, try calling The Tire Rack and seeing if they have any of those wheels in stock. You probably ought to go ahead and buy one or two spares since they are discontinued. Also, if you keep a tire on the bent wheel for a while, it will bend the tire itself out of round, even if you transfer the tire to a different wheel. You'll still get vibrations from the tire.
