First night w/ my license ! CRAZY!!!!
I got my license last wednesday morning, and that night i went out w/ 2 of my friends in the max. I'm doing the speed limit and all of the sudden i get pulled over. The cop goes through the procedure w/ my license and registration and threatens to take away my license for a couple months for having people in the car. He makes me get out of the car and points out that i have a tail light out. He lets me go (after almost ****ting my pants, my dad would of killed me if I got my license suspended) but i have to drive home w/ my flashers on. Drop both my friends off and i was on my way home when i was about to get on the highway, and i get pulled over again! This time it was for my flashers so i told him the story and he didnt' let me go on the highway cause i would get pulled over by a state trooper....So i had to take the bake way home.
Quite an exciting first night w/ my license.

Man, that sucks! Haha...
My parents woulda killed me too..the first 6 months I had my license I was clean until someone caused me to have a wreck. It was all good though becuase it wasn't my fault so my parents gave me grace. Then a few months later I got a speeding ticket for doing 64 in a 50mph zone...and reason I was speeding? To get to my tutors becuase I was late! So I had to pay $90, then pay $30 for a class all for freaking 'Education'. Throughout the year before any tickets/wrecks I was always nervous and paranoid about getting into a wreck/ticketed. But, now that i've finally had those experiences, my consious is cleared...so basically your gonna be peeing your pants until you get one or the other.
Well, it's been like 5 more months or so now and i've been clean ever since. So i've had a pretty good record for my 14 months of driving.

That sucks man, sorry you had such a rough first day. I've been driving for a year and 4 days and no tickets so far. You just have to remember to drive slow when you don't have to drive fast, and you'll be fine.

Ahhh. That reminds me of when I first got my license. I got in 3 wrecks the firt 2 weeks, 2 speeding tickets the fist 6 months. My folks had bought me a brand new truck. After all that they took my truck away and I had to buy my self an old F-150.
All those expierences were good for me though. I gave me a crash course in responsible driving. I was a terrible dirver when I was 16.
Rule of thumb. Never more than 5mph over in town and 10mph on the Highway. Will never get a ticket that way. Of course we all like to have fun sometimes.

You guys don't realize how lucky you are. I drive a 97 w/ 105k miles and my wife drives a '94 geo prism w/ 115k miles. We make close to a 6 figure income and we still can't afford nicer cars. We got a great house and take vacations though. BTW, my first 4 cars all cost under 1,000 so I couldn't even imagine driving a nice car when I was a teenager. Be careful though - as a young driver you most likely will have an accident, so don't drive stupid.

I try not to, I will admit I do drive pretty fast and mess around once and a while but daily driving is simply going fast but no messing around. I am lucky etc that I have this car but once again I did work for it....and I dunno my parents I think together make not a lot over a 6 figure income and take vacations etc and still managed to afford nice cars...just depends how you manage your $, if you go out to eat every night etc then obviously someone will not be able to afford a nic car if they arent making a lot...like i said just depends on how you manage your $

My first car was a Stanza, bought it (myself) with 80K for $3,000. The car was MINT (till i banged it up..but fixed it back up). Still have the Stanza, it'll be a beast one day when I get a secure, well paying job.
My family has alot of maximas, yes..i do believe they're all mine. I take my pick and go for the keys.
I'm 21 now, got my licence at 17. When I was 17, I got a speeding ticket for 40 in a 30. Judge quickly dismissed that because there was no posted speed limit.
Then I got another speeding ticket (in the stanza) 114 in a 65. $400, 8 points.
Then I got into an accident. Then I got a ticket for racing. not to mention ALL my parking tickets.
Now..after paying for all that stuff, and paying for repairs on my car (old age)..i take it easy. Drive fast, but use your head. I was going 80 on I-95 yesterday, speed limit was 55. I was able to go 80 cause the road was clear and every other car was going around 80 also. In that case, yes..increase the speed. Most people actually need to get a few tickets before they realize it's time to slow down. If we lived in germany or something..then all would be good.

I'm 22, and I've bought all 4 cars I have. I have a 93 MX-3 thats soon to be turbo'd, my 96 max, a 99 Monte Carlo (the daily driver), and a 99 Suzuki Esteem (bought for my gf, now ex-gf, I kept the car). As of right now, I'm unemployed, but about to get a job paying close to 6 figures.

You think that story is bad, mine is worse.
So I received my license last Thursday the 22nd. My dad gives me the keys to my car, my 2001 Nissan Maxima of course, and the permission to leave. I get in my car and meet some friends and chill with them for like 4 hours. I then go to pick up one of my lady friends and we drive to the Dairy Queen in our area, (Scottsdale and Shea for those of you who live in Phoenix) and I notice that the parking lot is empty except for maybe 10 cars parked at the other end. I move to the open part of the parking lot and see what my car can do when I floor it. So I put on a hard-hitting rap song, tell her to make sure her seat belt is on, and at the first hard beat of the song I floor it to 40 miles an hour and have to stop for a speed bump (since there are like 50 of them in ONE PARKING LOT). We then pull up to the DQ and I get out to hear 'sir you need to step back inside your car. License and registration NOW' So I turn around hoping its one of my friends to see a man in a blue suit with a *shiny* silver badge on his blue uniform. I get back into the car, give him my wallet and he says 'I don't need to see your pictures, I just want your license now give it to me.' With my hand quavering I reach back into my wallet to grab my license out of the slot and I give it to him. He then says, I need your registration. As I'm looking for it he looks at the date on my license and says 'I see you got your license just today, huh, well this will be the last time you have it for a while.' I look up at him hoping to see a smile but unfortunately I see his blank stare and he says, 'I still haven't received your registration.' I take the packet out of my glove compartment and I start shifting through the pages asking him which of these he wants as I am a BRAND new driver and I have no idea what anything is. He says 'Sir I cannot tell you which paper you need to give me and failure to present any of these documents at my wish will result in an arrest.' My hands being to quaver even faster than before and I start to become very scared. He looks inside my car and notices my cell phone and says 'give your dad a call.' WHAT A D!CK!! I pick up the phone and dial the number and I tell my dad what happened and he tells me its a tiny piece of white paper in the bottom of the glove compartment. I finally find it and I give it to the officer and he takes it and the cell phone. He stands at the back door of my car and says to my dad 'I found your son criminally wreckless driving in a parking lot and the penalty will be suspended license til the age of 21.' When I heard him say it I felt like dying. My dad talks to him for 5 minutes and finally he returns the phone to me and tells me that the penalty is suspended license til the age of 21 and he stops for a couple seconds and I look up and he says that he will let me off with a warning since my dad said he would take care of it. I turn and look out my back window to see what he was driving since I could have sworn he wasn't driving a squad car to see a White Toyota Tundra with the door open. He noticed me looking and said 'yeah that's my car, if you feel like doing some donuts in the parking lot go ahead, and he starts to chuckle to himself. He said that his attention was diverted to this side of the parking lot by the screeching of my tires, meaning he never even saw me doing anything, but since I was THE ONLY car on that side of the parking lot he knew it was me.
I'm still not driving. My parents are going to talk about me getting the Max back on thurs. I hope they feel i'm ready again.

In NY, when you get your licence, or the first 6 months you're on a probation period. Any offences and you see the judge, then punishment will be determined. Speeding and such is an automatic suspension of the licence.
My advice to you would be to take it easy till you have some experience.

Man I'm glad I missed all that restricted driving for the first 6 months crap. When I was bout to turn 16 (19 now) they had just started talking about that stuff here (Dallas) and it's now in effect as of last year I think. Suckas. I laugh at some of my younger friends who are getting hit with this now cuz some of the rules are just rediculous.
What ticks me off is the rich suburb kids who turn 16 and get brand new BMW's or Z06's with Daddy's money, then think they're the sh$t.

In CT we're..or I should say Im lucky cause there not doing any of that curfew crap etc for me....I dunno its funny to see all the young drivers of the org coming out, and I assume the people with the 2k max's received the max's as gifts? lol, anyways yea I remember when I first got my lic, pulled out of the driveway, put the windows down and thought I was the ****...must have put like 1000 miles on my car the first week lol

If this is some silly new law, Washington State hasn't grabbed it yet.
Which amazes me, because with things like the liquor laws and the Teen Dance ordinance, I can't believe they haven't snatched up the change to harass young people on this front.
Ever since WTO, the cops have turned into ***** here.....

I'm surprised that one hasn't been repealed by the State Supreme Court. It's against the Constitution to make any law that is specific to age/race/creed.
I do agree, however, that noone should be allowed to have their liscence until the age of 18 at all.
But then again, I think people should have to take an IQ test to vote and to have children.
Discuss and flame on!

I do agree, however, that noone should be allowed to have their liscence until the age of 18 at all.
But then again, I think people should have to take an IQ test to vote and to have children.
