So what percentage of Maximas are sticks?
Does anyone know or have a good guess about what percentage of Maximas are sticks. I know from when I was looking to buy one that they are pretty hard to find, but I am curious just how rare they are. I saw the number 10% thrown out once but didn't see anything to back it up.
From another thread I read that Nissan will not release the 'Model Matrix' for the Maxima. Is there any other way to know or would you just have to guess from what you see at dealers lots? Maybe check registrations or something?

I guess my question wasn't clear, I meant out of all the Maximas manufactured how many where sticks. On an enthusiest site like this obviously there will be a much higher percentage of manuals.
And if you are just jokeing than --->

my dealer said said the number and I forgot, but costcowholesale is either right or close. It was either 6% or 8% of the SEs manufactured are manual. They were using that as a reason to mark them up $2k at the dealer near me so I went a few dozen miles to buy mine.

Hmmmm. Almost half the Maximas manufactured where sticks, I wonder why it was so hard to find one .

I think i remember reading that 5% off all maximas manufactured are stick. So what conclusions can we make from my poll? That most stick drivers are enthusiasts (because most people on this board have stick, mod their cars, or just just love their car more than the average car owner)?

I learned a good hard lesson on this car, yep, like many of you, the thing called depreciation. But mine is worse because I had to get every option except wind deflector. But it's good to learn the lessons early in life. When I get an A4 or the like I know that it's silly to order it with every single option--you lose big on those items when reselling.

I would guess just over 20%?? I bought my car from a small dealer in 98 and there were about 4 sticks and 20 Maximas in stock. I think the reason you don't see too many sticks used is because those cars get wholesaled, nobody wants to carry the car in inventory because it's hard to sell. You're penalized upon trade-in for having a manual.

From what I have seen for sale (used) 5-8% sounds about right, perhaps stick owners are more likly to keep them and throw this off though. Does this estimate include GLEs or would they push the total down even further? I do remember somebody saying about the same percentage of GXEs and SEs were sticks, but they didn't back it up. I would think more SEs would be manuals.
I wonder if there were less sticks made for the 4th gen when Nissan was trying to get away from the 4DSC image.
I think most enthusiasts prefer a standard, but if there is going to be a debate about it I think it is grounds for a new thread.

Last time I talked to a friend who worked at the local Nissan dealership for the past 4 years said that in '99, about 1 out of every 10-12 produced is a 5-speed. So 8-10%??? And 2k2 standards are too common now, nothing special.

You can't just go by what you came across while looking for your Max. Or how hany 5-speeds the dealer had. Thinking that way is way off.
I read article upon article while looking for a Max(ended up with an I30 but that is besides the point). I read numerous times that the 4th gen Maxima's were 10% manual trans. The I30 was 3%.
