spark plug gap

spark plug gap

i realize this might be a stupid question but does anyone know if the ngk laser platinum's come pre-gapped?

if its got one electrode then good chance that its not gapped at least not for your car. if its got two or four then they are gapped. the one electrode plugs tend to cover a couple of vehicles so the gap can change. just call a local parts store that sells or carries them and ask them unless someone on here knows for sure.

The NGK PFRG5-11 Laser Platinum Plug comes pregapped at .044 inches from the factory. The -11 in the part number means .044 inches. However I always check the gap myself. The gauge costs about a $1.00 and it only takes a few minutes. I don't like surprises!

uhmmm here is another question. which side of the gapper am i suppose to use?????? i have one of those ones that look like a disk.
for my nitrous set up i am suppose to decrease the gap by .004 per 50hp increase.

now one side of the gapper do i use??????

well i got the gapper and they were all of by just a bit. as far as which side to use sounds like the inches side to me.

One side is inches...the other size is metric.

Be careful when checking the gap on platinum plugs; it is very easy to damage the platinum tip. I have read and heard several times that you should use a special gapping tool made specifically for plat. plugs, but I have never seen where to buy one.
