Removing Pinstriping...
Ok...when I first bought my car, it had two pinstripes on it: one was red, one was silver. I guess from the car being in the sun, the stripes were fading and peeling. I decided that I didn't like them, so I pulled them off. Well, after I pulled it off, there was a mix of adhesive (sp?) and scratches all along where the pinstripes were. So, I took it to my neighbor's body shop and he put a nice new black and silver pinstripe on there for me. It looks good, but I kinda liked the look of the car without it. My question: is there anything out there that would have taken those small scratches and adhesive off of my paint.
Thanks!

To remove pinstripes safely, use a hair dryer to heat them up first. Then, using your fingernail or a blade, very carefully lift up an edge of the pinstripe. Then, slowly pull up the pinstripe trying not to break it in half. If you heated it enough, it should come off. For the adhesive that is left over, try a solvent like rubbing alcohol or Goo-Gone. Then, polish and wax the area. The polish should remove any scratches and the wax will protect the area. Good luck!
Re: About to get be free of pinstripe
For both the 98se and 2kse I got them taken off right after I bought each car. basically the sales guy peeled slowly at a 45 degree angle
...no residue or adhesive etc...just clean looking car!

OLD THREAD ALERT!
Wow, this thread is back from when I had the '92 Maxima. Glad to see people are searching for this stuff. Oh, and FYI...I have successfully removed the pinstriping on my '92 GXE and my '97 SE.

Ugly pinstripes come again no more
I did it. Took me 40 min to remove 4 stripes, another 30 min to get rid of sticky things using "Wesper" a chemical used in drycleaners (Among the many PT I run...cleaners), and yet another 30-40 min. waxing it down like a dog.
Now on to the next mods. FSTB, caliper painting, clear corners, ecu upgrade, custom grille, custom foglight covers, RSB. and then a radar detector.
Right now, I found out I have that ECU governor that kills my RPM at 115...pathet.
