Hey everyone, after doing some seaching on the forum, I've decided to get 5mm spacers purely for aesthetic reasons. I have a few questions before I go ahead and order them though...

- I have read a few posts that they cause a little understeer. Is this true, and why?

- I think my wheels have a 42mm or 45mm offset. They're the Rota MSVs 17x7.5. Will I need to get new studs? I've heard that it would be okay to keep stock studs since 5mm is relatively small, but I just want to get more input on this.

- Do the prices on websites apply to the spacers as a pair? OptAuto has the 5mm for $55, while this website,

Sounds right to me but +10mm shouldn't even be noticable. Imagine if you doubled the space between the tires, say 6' - how easy would turning be then?

I didn't notice any understeer with the addition of 5mm HR hub-centric spacers. They are really well made. I didn't require the use of the longer lug nuts, although they came with them.

where, and how did you know NOT to use the longer lugs? Can you really tell that you didn't need them? Seeing my offset might be 42, I might have to get the new lugs installed.

Most Rota wheels are 45mm offset. If yours is a 4th gen it will fit...but looked tucked inside the fender well.
The 5mm & 15mm spacers are on 2 months backorder. NO ONE has them.
Optauto is the cheapest place to get them.

You can actually get away with 15mm spacers in the rear especially with such high offset on your Rota wheels. Someone on here is selling some used 15mm spacers.
I would put the longer studs on regardless of spacer width. It is for safety. There is a reason why those German engineers are supplying longer studs. Otherwise Pep Boys sells 5mm spacers for $7.99. Everyone would get those instead of H&R.

it won't look tucked with a 45mm offset, it will stick out a little more than stock because the wheels are wider then the stock ones.

Spacers should be avoided unless you really need them.

theblue, I agree, the wheels don't look tucked in at all, it's just I want to have the rear wheels as close to the fender as possible. The fronts are great already, and the rears just need to be pushed out a few more mm.

dashingmax, yeah, H&R spacers are sold out at the few places I've tried. If I find someone who stocks them I'll PM you.
