Well Variable Intake works for another satisifed customer.. dyno done :)

****EDIT*** FOUND NEW PEAK HP *****EDITED****

Well My previous best was 171.0 HP and 180.2 lbs TQ

After lots of problems on the dyno and finally figuring it out to be a bad check vavle.....

177.2 HP 177.8 lbs TQ

I gained about 42.9 HP at 6200 rpms.

The reason I think the torque is down I ran my car 10 times or so on the dyno and then back home for the check valve and then righ tback to the dyno shop.

I am switching over at 5100 rpms. It is a SEAMLESS switch over

The video IS HERE
**** EDIT ***** http://www.bags533.com/vids/bags.all.gear.dyno.wmv
Man thanks mr.cranman again

2nd class hurry up and get it.. I told you about 30 HP

did not go to track due to rain..so to dyno I went

He started late on the all gear run..and stopped me again It actually lagged..you can hear it in the video. But once it got over the hump it was rockin and rolling... the HP curve is going up..again I was stopped by the dyno guy

Here is the print out he gave me. Last run I did.. if you look the TQ is lower than the previous run..BUT it is longer..getting flater... thus more usable TQ.

Also I might try and go next wed for $50 just to get 3 cold runs in since my ride was hot

Is your baseline the OEM manifold or the VIM deactivated?

ALL baseline pic's I posted were with the OEM manifold.

I only got 168 HP out of the VI manifold closed. BUT, I thought that would not be the best comparison.

Since I cahnged the Inatke to the Variable Intake I went with a pic of my best OEM manifold dyno VS my best VI dyno.

Clear things up? I ahve most of my dyno runs on disk if you want them let me know

I was curious because there aren't to many OEM vs VIM dynos. I see that you experienced the same mid-range loss that I did when comparing OEM vs VIM.

I believe that with all other things being equal, a VIM Maxima will pull on non-VIM maxima. However with my maxima being a 5-spd when I shift from 1st gear to 2nd I come back at 4000 rpms which is where I start to loss hp until 5000 rpm. My gut feeling is that 1000 rpm window in 2nd gear is hurting my 1/4 mi times. The 2nd to 3rd gear shift isn't as bad as the rpms drop to 4600 rpm. It looks like a modified ECU with a 7000 rpm redline would optimize the performance of Maxima's with the VIM.

Your EXACTLY right. That is why I compared my dyno of the OEM and VI. There is a small loss there. I am ****ed because of the TQ loss. I need to go back and spend more money on another dyno just to see if it was my car being hot.

Again I agree with you. My car, being an auto, has a pull in the 1st and 2nd gear that is has not EVER had. I pull all the way through 1st to slightly past redline..shift into 2nd and it is like the power keeps coming all the way to 3rd. I have only tested 1st and 2nd..it's been raining here... since I re-set the change over point.

However if you look at my dyno's , again I have them if you would like to compare or want them for your website, the loss is small about 5 HP is the biggest loss I can find. But the TQ is almost 8-10 LBS in the biggest gaps. BUT my TQ line is broadening out further.

And I did not take my car to the rev limiter on any dyno's... I just did ot want to push it that hard after doging on it multiple times. Next dyno I will.

And a 7000 rev limit would be cool.. I am sure I would see 180 HP then maybe 183. But, from what I have seen on this and other maxima boards.... and what I know about 4th gens... ( going out on a large limb here) I think I have the MOST HP out of an NA AUTO 4th gen.

And because of your and others efforts to get this item I can improve my HP & 1/4 time If stillen/cattman/SOMEONE reads this board at all and see how many people are REALLY trying this they should get off thier hands and do something about it. There will be mods that make this one better. maybe those CAMS I keep hearing about.

BTW the guys at the dyno shop were very cool, MZMTG , was with me. They thought this thing was pretty slick. They knew exactly what it was doing as well. A guy with a late 80's supra liked my car and the mod. He has, I saw it there, a 500 HP turbo/ NOS supra.

Anyway.. let me know if there is anything I can do or if you need anything from me
