Depends, if it hasn't been done in awhile I will use a cleaner wax preferably mothers to get all the oxidents and crap out of the paint, if I do it like I am supposed to I go with zymol.

I picked up some Meguiar's Cleaner Wax today so that I could get rid of some stuff that is on the paint. It's doing a great job, though it does reveal some of the imperfections that you couldn't see before because of dirt/etc. Found a few minor scratches, but for a 5 year old car it is looking great.
