Hawk Performance Brakepads, feedback?

I've had Porterfield r4s pads before I went big brake, great performance, soft on rotors but dust like a biatch. Has anyone heard of or used Hawk pads before? How are their brakepads compared to Porterfield?

Tks. Ange

my friend Jay Lee had hawks on this max when he went to the track. he said nothing but good praise for em.

Porterfield actually sells hawk pads thru their store. you might want to ask them for special pricing. but since you got the big brakes. eek i dunno..

i wunder if porterfield makes BREMBO pads.

MWUAHHAHAHAHA. um...

thanks Nick (I'm ig-nant when it comes to the search function)

Ches- I've been talking to Porterfield all week. Turns out that r4s pads (AP racing) are $149+ shipping and Hawk pads cost $137.50+ shipping.

I'm wondering if Hawk uses carbon kevlar compound as well and which dusts more (Wendy didn't want to tell me)

I got hawk street/strip pads on my car (not a maxima but similiar in weight and braking). They dust but i clean my wheels often anyways. They stop VERY well. I dont run at the track or anything but i havent felt them fade yet. I will be buying them again once they wear down.

You need to know which Hawk pads you are getting, I have the same Brake kit as you and used up most of the pads that came with it in one day at the track but that's what you get with slotted rotors.

Anyhow, those pads were street compound (dusted a lot)and still not good enough for the track, atleast with me driving. So now I have Hawk HP+ and they bite real hard and sqweak like crazy but don't dust as much as the original (AP Racing?) pads.

I've never used them but I suggest you get the Hawk HP not the HP+ since you don't run at the track (and I don't mean 1/4 Mile) or do you?

Hawk HP+ is harsher on the rotors ..
off their website"
...Due to the dramatic friction levels produced by this product to achieve 'race-level' braking; rotor wear, noise, dust, and pad wear may be increased"

With that said, I'm leaning towards the HPS compound (street performance).

<~~~ has hawk pads..

not even sure which ones.. the dont dust much, and they are quiet, stopping isnt too aggressive though, but better than stock.

tks Jason.

I think I'm going to give up little performance for less dusting in return, the HPS compound is soft on rotors... which is always a good thing.

I've always used Hawks on my Max. First I had HPS which were great on the street, a little noise, and very dusty (my rotors are slotted too so that contributes to the dust some). They performed OK on road course, but once they get really hot you will start getting a little fade. They are a better choice for Street and AutoX driving, but not the best for road course racing.

HP+ work awesome on a road course, at first on the street, they are a little weak on that first stop, but after that they perform fine on the street. On a road course they are awesome. The first time you really lay on the brakes and you think they can't bite any harder, they dig in more and amaze you. They friggin STOP, and that's all there is to it. I have never experienced any fade with the HP+, with some road course sessions going as long as 30 minutes straight in 90+ degree weather on a brake intensive course. They are right up there with Carbotech Panther XPs at about 1/2 the price.

i hyave the HPS and i agree witgh the sadler, they don't dust, dont fade very easy, quiet but they aren't very aggresive willwood compound d's are aggresive i loved them but they wear fast.
