Take a close look at it. If there is dirt embedded that blocks the mesh, which can't be removed with a toothbrush, TOSS IT!

K&N is the biggest FRAUD I've ever heard of. Yes, it outperforms a genuine Nissan filter when brand-new. The first time you need to clean it, after a mere 7k of use, it is no longer as good as a new Nissan filter. When Nissan costs under $10, um...no-brainer time, how many filters can you buy for the price of a K&N with the cleaning kit. About 7?????

Cleaning a K&N filter is very easy and very effective to do. I have had K&N filters on my last 5 cars and I've loved everyone of them. I have never seen dirt that will not come out of one.

Hold it up to a light--and you'll see where

a) the light doesn't pass through

b) you attempt to remove the embedded dirt and it wont come out with a toothbrush, even a HARD one

I have always just rinsed water from the inside out. That seems to get all the grit to come out, then I use a long soft brisseld brushed to get anythign else out. I'm telling you my filters look brand new after I do this.

I agree, mine looks like new after it's washed. I use a soft brush, gently brush it, rinse and repeat. Then let it dry outside in the sun with my laundry for that country freshness.

I luv my K&N also.

have a cone on my other car for 94K (111K on the car) and clean it once a year. Looks as good as new after I clean.

I have had the CAI on my max for 10K and it still looks great!

As above, never had dirt that would not come out. Make sure you are using the cleaner and are rinsing the filter from the right side.

I will continue to put them on all of my cars.

Must be 'cause all the women were around me for San Gennaro's 75th last night!

Penso che un sogno cosi non ritorni mai piu
Mi dipingevo le mani e la faccia di blu
Poi d'improvviso venivo dal vento rapito
E incominciavo a volare nel cielo infinito

Sprint that dude burned you about the Soc. Sec. cap, you were out in left field, grasping. Still worried about those who know your secret?
