didn't someone say we could take WRXs from a roll?

soooo, i was going down the street today and a silver WRX pulls up next to me. of course i rev at him (i am a reckless teenager you know ) but he doesn't bite. so i just drive off normally then all of the sudden he flys past me like a bat out of hell weaving in and out of traffic. when we get side by side we go at it from 40 to 60 (2nd gear) ad he pulls on me about half a car until theres traffic up ahead. anyways, i get onto the on ramp to go down the highway and he follows me. he guns it first to go around me an the an ahead of me then i gunned it and followed him. he gets about 4 cars ahead of me and stays there (possibly gaining a LITTLE) and he next thing i know i look at my speedo and notice that im pegged WAY past 140 (im thinking 146-148ish) so i let off all the way and he keeps going while i get off on my exit.

i could've sworn everyone said WRXs had no top end and we could take them from a roll so what gives? he looked and sounded stock so
something is wrong with my car but i can't diagnose the problem. i went to the track last sunday and my best ET was 15.225 @ 90mph. i have full exhaust and hybrid intake and my friggin' traps were higher BEFORE my y-pipe. dunno....... anyone else had any experiences with WRXs?

you didn't read the small print....RESTRICTIONS MAY APPLY! ie- not all Maximas and their drivers are created equal!

That's funny, I think our Maximas have no top end. In my opinion, the gear ratios are no good on our car. It's like a blend of economy and performance, but I think it could have been optimized better. Instead of beefing up the power, I'd rather have transmission work done. New clutch, flywheel, LSD, shorter final drive, shorter 4th gen, and taller 5th gear...I think that'd take some serious time off the quarter mile. Once I hit 4th gear, I'm just sort of slowly waiting and watching the RPMs move.

Or he had a few mods... They are pretty quick regardless.

Well, you said he gunned it before you right? So he got the advantage already. Plus, he might have got a manual boost controller. I know a guy with a silver WRX that just with a manual boost controller ran a 13.5-13.6 in the 1/4 mile.

check out the 5th gen fourms.....MAX2000JP and I ran one last night..and pulled on it easily...ESPECIALLY from a roll. My 4th gen is dead even with MAX2000JPs 5th gen from a roll....

BTW - I've beaten a couple WRXs....once I get into third gear...it's OVER.

well a car trapping 90mph isn't going to do anything to a WRX.... but that is weird that you are trapping so low
