Re: bullet proof tranny

Is it possible to make it a 5 speed automatic? I am just thinking that would help the auto boys out alot.

Wondering

I was just wondering,
Is Tuning the right way to spell it or Tunning.
I see both spellings on different websites.

Its all in the software which hasn't been cracked yet.
Think of overdrive as a .5 gear. This is a simple way of understanding it.
Your 4 speed is actually 1, 2, 3, 3.5
Most 5 speed autos are 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 or 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 3.5 and a six speed auto would be 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5. Most automatics also have multiple reverse gears but we only get to use one for cost savings.
Also, when the automaker commits to the 5 speed auto, they adjust the 1st or 2nd gear ratios for spacing/rpmdrop/smooth shifting. Usually the top two gears aren't touched. 3rd gear is direct drive 1:1, and 3.5th gear is what we call overdrive.
The automakers are lazy and cheap. Very high quality/fast solenoids and very specific TCU/ECU tuning are needed to make the extra gears work.

Good Luck Jeff. Its a good deal because you can Buy this tranny for 3000K and sell your old auto if its in good condition for $1500. The auto should switch just as fast as the 5spd if its tuned right. Check out the BMW and other cars, the auto and 6spd is identical #s. I sill love the 5spds.

One of us is totally confused, and honestly I'm not sure who it is.

I took his post to be: "I have the stock OEM tranny, I kill it. Will Nissan cover putting in your tranny as a replacement under the OEM warranty".

I think you took it to be: "Are your trannies covered under warranty".

I don't for a second doubt the caliber of your work, and have read many of your and your customers post. In all honesty I am impressed with your services. As many of us know the maxima could use a lot more aftermarket support!
I misunderstood. You know nissan, they'll void your warrantee if you have clear corners on your car.

Does anyone know if this transmission would be a warranty option for my Max. I know that Nismo parts are covered under warranty, but could I get my transmission from these guys rather than OEM, anyone know the price difference? Is it a Maxima transmission that has been built? This looks like a great option
just imagine if you dont succeed in blowing yours out within that time.

I understand that this tranny is built to withstand some serious usage (basically racing) but... what effect will it have on everyday driving? because i am looking into a turbo setup in the future but i still dont race all that often... only here and there.... its my everday car..

any info on that would be great

The tranny will act like a normal tranny it will just be a lot stronger. The vb is what determines the way the car shifts.

I'll throw it in reverse on the highway before that happens

J/K, I'll have to get this bullet proof version some time anyway and I know it won't be covered under warranty. So whether it dies now or later really won't save me anything.

JamieCBR, I'll PM you snd I'll put you in touch with Matt my tranny tech. He is also familair with the weak parts in these units that are prone to fail.
Maxima06071, $2500 is for the unit without the TC, $2900 is for the unit with installation @ Maximum Tuning without the TC.
I can't quote prices on TC's because they vary on the stall speed you want.

These will also be available for 3rd gens.
I'm still very interested in this...but I haven't gotten my pm. Somebody let me know, so we can put our brains together....
