Tire paint?

No, not to paint the whole tire, but just the lettering on the sidewall like this:

I just picked up a set of Bridgestone Potenza S-03's and want to fill in the S-03 lettering with yellow or red paint like the p-zero's. Any suggestions on what to use so it will adhere to the rubber surface?

I remember something a few years ago about colored foil transfers for tires. I'll check my old mags when I get home tonight.

I think I saw some product that was like a paint for "sidewall lettering" in a JCWhitney catalog ages ago. You may want to check there.

The stuff I was thinking of is called Tire FX, but I don't know if it's around anymore.

Thanks for checking Voltman...I'll use that as a good place to start.

Check out your local motorcycle dealers for tire paint. Lots of us riders, especially some super sport riders paint their lettering white. You might find other colors there as well. My neighbor paints his lettering, it looks great and holds up well.

Never thought about that. Thank you. hmmm, now the issue is not where to find it and what to use, but will it look cool!? Better try with some non-permanent stuff first.

I dunno...if you use too much you run the risk of making it look NASCAR-ish...yuck

haha, yeah I know.

My goal is to put just a hint of red on there (just like in the pic on the very fist post) so I can let everyone know I have the BEST TIRES ON THE PLANET!

I got this off another website:
Simply get yourself a very, very small brush like a ProModeler 10/0 spatter, and some ProModeler acrylic flat white paint. It's important to use acrylic paint, since enamel will not dry on rubber tires. Carefully paint the white onto the raised letters, and if you do slop a little onto the tires, simply take a sharp ProModeler hobby knife and, using the tip, carefully scrape away the excess paint.
