Off subject "any software guru's"

Any one really good with software. My PC will not launch Internet explorer. It will only come up to a lanc white page with nothing on it. Internet connection is working because can get on instant messenger. Tried reseting IE but no luck. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

CTRL-ALT-DEL see if the Task of IEXPLORE.exe is running.. if it is.. you might want to shut it down.. try again.. if it still doesn't work.. go upgrade it..

Yep. And do as Sprite said and upgrade IE if it has done this many times before.

Tried to upgrade but wouldn't connect to download site. Really wierd though everything will connect but IE and weatherbug. Also this just started lastnight was on web surfing and went to open a page and just white screen wouldn't load or anything. Thanks for the help

you can't get the setup file? or the setup file won't connect to microsoft?

Nope will not connect to website or anywebsite I downloaded from my laptop and onto a floppy the setup file put in my PC and ran ask me if I wasnted to install and the would go no father.

maybe you should get like an Internet Service Provider CD that has IE on it.. or use another browser for now..

the only other option i could give you is involved with editing the registry.. and i don't feel comfortable tellign someone to do that

Thanks for the help I am going to try Netscape and see if it works if not just reload my PC. Yeah I don't feel comfortable in the registy either even I can fix anything hardware but when it comes to soft ware leave it to someone else

Try clearing your cache/cookies
go to tools>>internet options>>settings>>view files>>
Then on the memu bar go to>>edit>>select all>> then press your delete key.

If this works, then you might want to try increasing the size of the temporary files folder.

I thought IBTL meant In Between The Lines........lol.

Gotta be the wierdest thing I have ever seen all I did was turn the PC off for about 45mins and hen I powered back up works fine not sure what the prob was. Kinda crazy if you ask me but anyway it is working. Did tried to reboot twice befor so I don't know?

Can you Ping?

Can you PING the site Sprint gave you?
If you don't know how:
Click "Start" -> "Run"
Type CMD
When you get the DOS window type "PING 64.252.156.63"

See if you get 4 "Reply to ....." messages.

If you don't, it's not your browser but your connection.
If you do get the messages, then your browser is definitely the culprit. You can do a search at http://msdn.microsoft.com to try and pinpoint your issue as well. Make sure you know your browser version (Click Help -> About Internet Explorer).

I have XP installing SP1 on it now so hopefully the problem doesn't reacurr. Thanks for all the help

You probably have one of the myriad of IE virii. My aunts machine did this and when she got infected last month.

Go get mozilla (mozilla.org) and save yourself a world of pain.
