So the new Z is now a killer
Just got back from Stillen Day and they had the prodotyped 350Z Supercharger kit. They had the hood cut on it and the guy said they are still tuning it but should go into production within 2 weeks, he estimates around 350-390 with low/safe boost.

I will post vids on monday, they started it up for a second but didnt rev it, he said dyno coming soon, they are just tweaking the fuel managment...also it was insane to see a newer car with the hood cut and a blower sticking out of it like the old muscle cars.

So this means that a supercharger is will soon be available for a 3.5 litre. If it works for a 350z, it's has to work for us right? Does the 350z engine have stronger internals than we do?
#6
I am not sure about the internals, but it has some differences, since it does have about 40 more hp. But it would be nice to see a blower on a Maxima sticking out the hood. I think it was a centrifual blower which is good because the boost kicks in immediately. They did say the headers for the 3.5 Alty will be done very soon and they will fit the 2k2 Maxima.

No. But the motor is not transverse. The motor is sitting 90 degrees different from ours. Just because it fits on their motor doesn't mean it will fit ours. In fact, I am almost positive it will not fit at all. I guess we will all see.
Personally I am not waiting on a SC anymore.

The fact that it works on a 350z safely means it should work on our cars. I know fitting it under the hood may be a different issue but again, Stillen would be crazy not to figure out how to do that. I least that's what I'm praying for.

Crap, now I'm wishing I had traded in my 5th gen Maxima for a 350Z like I originally planned, instead of buying the SC .

Hmmm....a roots type blower!!! SWEET!!!! and whats with the a-la domestic cut-out hood to fit the blower...now you'll see Z's rolling around with bog NHRA snorkel hood scoops did they start that Z up, I know it probably sounds like a beast!
if they are using a roots type blower, mounting transeversely on a Maxima 3.5, shouldn't be that hard....well other than having a big *** hoel in you hood to accomodate it...

the mossy nissan company 3.5 altima freakin put down more hp/torque than the 350z.. ok so no comparison cause one is stock and the other is completely modded but still NA.
For a 280+hp car, it dyno'ed at 225hp
For a 270+lb torque car, it dyno'ed around 228 lb of torque
The altima on the other did a 228hp and a 238 lb. of torque
THis out of an engine spec'ed at 240hp

I knew a roots blower was going to be pretty much the only way to boost the 350Z/G35. After looking under the hood of a G35, you quickly realize how little room there is....anywhere. BUT the way the engine is laid out along with the belts and pulleys, it looked like a perfect setup for a Roots blower. All it would take to fit a Roots blower in the G35 is about an extra 2" of hood clearance. This is assuming they do away with the intake manifold (most factory Roots systems use the blower as the intake manifold).

Anyway, why doesn't Nissan give 390hp from the factory and here's a new concept, charge the customer for it! Maybe it costs 50 grand or so. Nah, they'd have to call it TRD or something like that....
But seriously, that's what German makes do. They give you the beef, but you have to pay for it. What a concept!

yes it is a roots type blower, there is NO plumbing to that bioch.
DA-MAX they did start it up, but the guy was being a bioch and only revved it to about 2k if that, I have the video and will post it on werd.com, I have the vid of him getting out of the car and saying "Ok, keep checking the website for more on it" little wuss boy.

THE Z GETS READY TO RACE
It was only a matter of time until Nissan got back into big-time racing. The company had no choice but to pull most of its raving programs when it was experiencing hard financial times a few years ago, but now that its fortunes have turned, Nissan is ready to dive in headfirst.
The official introduction of the 350Z in Japan last manth (called the Fairlady there), Nissan showed the GT race version of the car. Called the Z33GT racer, this car will most likely lead the company back into the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year where it will go head-to head with the Porsche 996 GT3R in the GT class. The Z33GT will be made available to privateers around the world, at a cost of about $75,000; therefore dont be suprised to see it in a number of domestic race series such as the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) or the Grand-Am Cup.
The Z33GT is a serious machine, with all the racing essentials in place, including a rollcage, heavy-duty brakes and a giant carbon-fibre wing. It tips the scales at a lean 2420lb. The engine has been bored out to 3.6 liters, resulting in a huge bump in horsepower. Sources say it branks out 450bhp. Nissan has been itching to get back to road racing, and now that it can without worrying about money and politics, look for this car to make a huge impact in GT racing next year.
Wonder if I could slap a turbo kit on this car without blowing the motor
