hey, i was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the new 2004's. there have been rumors running around that it is a new body style, more hp, and AWD???? im sure that atleast some, if not all of this is not true, but mayube someone knows something???

 

Although I have no first hand knowledge, and have not seen any "specs" myself. I read on a recent post within last few days that the 2004 is supposed to be somewhere around 350 ish HP, which would probably mean its at least a 4.1L, and AWD is rumored, but again if it is something that they do end up throughing in it will likely be an option for an SE model. AWD would be mad sweet, and would way more efficient specially for all that power. They Should make it so you can switch, FWD to AWD to RWD etc. That would be interesting.

2004 Nissan Maxima
Captured relatively naked on a Los Angeles freeway the all-new Maxima is a radical departure from the current design. Don't be fooled by the funky split-grille front end--it's a disguise. The new bodywork will include clear-lens taillamps and a flatter rear window. You can expect the large wheel openings to be filled by standard 17-in. tires, with 18-inchers standard on the sportier SE models. Under its body the new Maxima shares a lot with the successful Altima sedan. Among other things, that means the current car's twist-beam rear axle is replaced by an independent setup. Judging by the roofline, the new Maxima will have class-leading headroom for front passengers. Motivation will come from the current VQ-series DOHC 3.5-liter V6 paired to either a 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Expect at least 260 hp in the new car and more on SE models possibly coupled with awd to handle that power. The new Maxima arrives at your local Nissan dealer in February.

 

A buddy of mine at work has actually seen the mock up. He did an evaluation for Nissan and filled out a detailed questionairre on the prototype. Got $100 bucks for doing the survey. He said the car is absolutely beautiful. It had some sort of funky sunroof that ran the wrong way on the roof, but I'm sure that won't make production. I'm sure we won't be disappointed!

 

Have you seen the Infiniti M45? Rear wheel drive, 340 hp, 333 lb-ft of torque, don't know about weight. I'm hoping that's what the next generation Maxima is going to be based on.
