never looked back
...after I sold my 92 si. the Maxima is way more car.
Civics are a dime a dozen too, and the owners who want to individualize them seem to really go over the top. I like what a Max can do without any of the extra "SHOW" I like the less show, more go approach

It was a 1996 Civic EX...
I sunk a TON of money into it...approx. $30,000 on top of the $15,500 i paid for it brand new.
I built it up from day one...and 4 years later that was the end result.
It was making 350HP and was pretty amazing.
The reason i sold it was because i got sick of it always being in the shop cuz when you got a honda making that much power it is VERY UNRELIABLE. So i decided to part it out and when it was back to stock i traded it in on my 2000 Maxima. I made out OK... made about $12k-15k selling parts and got $10k for the trade (100% stock)<~~~it only had 10k miles on it. ; )
I know the Maxima is much more car & another reason i sold the civic and bought a Maxima is because the Maxima is not a "me too" car like the civic (or Mustang for that matter).
I originally bought my civic to work up back in 1996 when the import scene had not yet hit the East Coast...i bought a civic to be "different"...that lasted for about a year or so...then came all the riceboys...i stuck it out w/ my baby as long as i could...but the time came to move on.
I hope i have as many good times in the future w/ my Max!

I feel your pain. I miss mine too
That civic of yours is bad ***, I bet you miss it! I have a soft place in my heart for Hondas as well. My last car before I made the switch to the Max was a very modified (though not as much as yours!) '94 Civic DX.
I built mine for roadracing and never goofed around much with trying to make horsepower with the anemic 1.5L non-VTEC motor. My list of mods goes as follows (see if I can remember it all)
-'94 Civic DX coupe (purple)
-PAN motorsports cold-air intake. Custom 8" scoop protruding UNDER the car. Worked great and kept the roads clean and dry. Vacuum action.
-TRUST stainless exhaust, no cat, stock headers (yep)
-Stillen fuel pressure riser
-NOS 48hp wet shot (just for fun)
-Centerforce clutch, lightened flywheel
-Intrax custom-wound springs (ludicrous high spring rate, roughly a 2" drop)
-Tokico's
-Energy suspension bushings all around (motor mount is horribly loud)
-Suspension Techniques f/r sway bars (25mm rear 19mm front)
-Zspeed upper strut tower braces and lower arm bars
-Autopower SCCA/NHRA legal 7-pt rollcage
-Interior gutted, sound deadening material removed
-Simpson 5pt harness (on driver side, no passenger seat anymore)
-Fire supression system, other obligatory SCCA safety equipment (restraints, cage padding, etc)
-Various lightening (A/C removed, bumper innards removed, door beams removed, trunk interior stripped, etc.)
-Wider slotted rotors(custom ghetto rig) with 4" ducts feeding air to them. I had holes cut in the front of my car. Psycho
-$3500 worth of stereo gear all built to quick-release for easy removal before races. Wacky. Car sounded like a tin can with firecrackers going off inside it when I turned the stereo up.
-3 or 4 sets of wheels. 16" TSW Hockenheims for street styling, 17" ADR Prowlers for street styling, 13" steels with 225/45/13 Hoosiers for road race, 14" steels with BFG R1's for autocross. I think I had a set of stock wheels/tires with sears tires on them for burnouts and general hooliganism.
Car ran 14.7-14.8 1/4 normally aspirated, mid thirteens on the juice. Pulled over 1.3G lateral with the Hoosiers (sick stick) and is currently the speed record holder for nearly all decreasing radius corners and exit ramps in the NC region. Hahaha!
But I love my plush, quiet, reliable, relatively quick and dead silent Maxima.

For torque and lightweight, thats why Ive got Car #2 in my garage.....I will see something more than 300 ft lb at the wheels with ease in ole 4SFED

Yup...I'm sure I'll like the Max just as much...once i got some positive boost pressure runnin thru that nice, TORQUEY V6. Although my lil' 1.6L honda DID make 236 lb-ft torque to the wheels...I'm sure I can make alot more w/ the V6.. not to mention it will make the torque at a reasonable rpm...as opposed to my honda making peak torque at 8200 rpm. Its a completely different beast altogether.
