I'll tell you why it's not on there...

it's cause it's not reliable. I've had several issues with the cars... never mind the small ones, that I don't care. But things like car not starting... ie yesterday when I needed it. That I take issues too.

But my car alone has had the following issues in the short two years of ownership:

1) side airbag problem, not sure what this first time
2) side airbag problem, bad harness
3) rear window motor bad
4) loud AC fan motor, yet to be fixed
5) a pillar rattles
6) rear deck rattles
7) center dash rattles
8) driver seat pops
9) car refusing to start
10) rough idle problems, which the dealership denies and won't look into.

That's 8 i can think off the top of my head.

my aunt has a 97 maxima se, my cousin has a 98 200sx se, my mom has a 97 i30t, and i have a 00 maxima se... no one has had major problems yet.. i only have the tsb's to take care of, but other than that my car runs beautifully. my cousin has occasional trouble with his 200sx, but that's only because he's using sr20de mods for his ga16de.

The point isn't major problems... a problem no matter how small is still a problem. Majority of cars on the market these days will last 150k miles easy. But what seperates the Lexus from the Chevy or Ford are those "little" problems.

Hehe. What happened to BMW ("The Ultimate Driving Machine") and Ford ("Quality is Job 1")?

2 things about Nissan
They'll never get back on the Car and Driver 10 Best list, nor will they be recognized by JD Power as best in satisfaction.

Common sense--with BMW 3 & 5 and Honda Accord on the list for 15 straight years, how's Maxima gonna get on? Ugly tail lamps wont cut it.

Well let's see here, every car I've ever owned has been a Nissan. There must be some reason for that. Oh wait, because I don't make a lot of money, you know, to afford repairs. I have owned a '87 Sentra GXE, '87 Maxima GXE, '89 Maxima GXE, and now my '97 Maxima SE. The only problem that really comes to mind out of all those cars is the auto tranny in my '87 Maxima was ****! Then again, I drove it pretty damn hard! Nissan is getting better. We all know they had/have some problems in the mid to late 90's. They are getting better. Just wait and see what happens in the next generation of their current line-up.

nissan reliability
i've owned a 88 pathfinder, an 89 and 95 maxima.

The build of nissan engines or the 3.0 L V-6 is awesome.

Besides that, and ever since they built the plant in
?? Tennessee, the build quality has gone down.

I had no squeaks or rattles in the 88 or 89, but my
95 squeaks and rattles relentlessly.

bad things on the 88 and 89 and across the board for nissan include windows and seat problems. oh, also the power antennaes always die at about 100K.

you can run any nissan to about 200K without major problems, do note that little problems are problems though.

my wifes grand prix 97 was in the shop like five times when we first got it, she also had a new tranny installed at 22K.

Do you think that it matters where car was made? My 97 GLE made in Japan. I got 60K on it and didn't really have problems with it, well leather seats squeak when it's too cold.
