you guys with 2k maximas...

we have beat this subject up in the
5th gen forum... basically, as I read in Comsumer reports, they rated all the V6's (accord, a6, max, some domestics) as 14-17mpg during the first 8-12 mins of driving. New cars run very rich until the cat/conv is fully warmed up (you cant go by the temp gauge inside, the cat will take longer). If most of your trips are in a cold car (or the exhuast has cooled down) for less than 15 mins, your mileage will really suck. I've even called Nissan NA after my car was on diag twice regarding this, they confirmed that as well. My Pathfinder gets better mileage for early morning short trips!!! go figure!

yo...
yeah... I have a suspicion that my PF mileage isnt supposed to be as good as it is, but I'm not looking that gift horse in the mouth.
My observations have been that I (or my wife) get about 17-21 just about all the time. However, I have noticed that when highway driving, if I get above 2900 rpm (about 78mph) the mileage nosedives. bigtime. that pig is just geared so low.
right now I'm concerned about a popping I felt in the steering this weekend. another fun filled trip to the dealer.

yeah, I was surprised that
the PF was doing the advertised (if not alittle better) mileage. of course the second I get past 80, you can watch the gas gauge free fall. I only have 13K on it right now, and I made all those mpg observations at about 6K. For all I know it has dropped since I was doing so well. When my wife told me what she was getting for MPG and I told her she didnt know how to work her calculator. bad idea, especially when she was right anyway

Rotors were smaller than Maxima's so I became too skeptical, perhaps later on I'll do brackets, but currently not in a rush for insane amounts of braking. At least I've located a Y2K Right front assembly, so that'll be my guinea pig for the next few weeks.

mine has never been below 20 either, i don't race everyone, but I do drive like a moron most of the time (sudden bursts of acceleration at any given moment). I get 22-24mpg back and forth to work 15 miles each way, 10 of that is on the highway, but I'm usually going ***** out since I'm frequently running late. Strictly highway is always 28 no matter how fast or slow I drive. Just drove from Syracuse to DC today 400miles, 1st 50 miles was through lake effect snow going 30-50mph, the rest of the trip was all out, 80+mph. I made the trip in 6hrs with a stop for lunch so you can imagine I was pushing pretty hard. Sure enough 28mpg.
