Ummmm..... everyone of you that have logged in, I have your IP and your hostname. I don't think he needs to worry about me hacking him. I am trying to find out which one he is so I can see if he is blocked.

Sprint - you cant spoof your networks connection to my server. My server is not taking the IP from your machine, it gets the IP from the network. ie. if you dial-in to a network and FTP to me, the IP I get is from the server you are dialed into. You can spoof your NIC, but you cant spoof the network IP.

Sorry guys, I just moved and had to get my cable service back up. Give me a day or two and everything will be back up to speed. I will probably open up about 10-20 gigs for space, hope that is enough. ;-)

 

how good is your bandwith? the org is known to rape most servers

 

It puts out at about 50-60Kbytes a second, but the important things are that it is stable, it is mine, I can use as much as I want and it hardly ever goes down. Anyways, it will be clogged for a bit until the newness wears off and everything settles down.

My server goes down because I want it to. I am trying to structure it to protect the video storage so it can stay up and fast.

There is no "true" hosting service that will allow a server to create over 50Gig of Bandwidth a month and get away with it. In fact a hosting company will rape you if you go over your limit. That is what I am trying to keep this under control, because once this server gets nailed, the archive is gone. This isn't a DSL server, this is a server sitting on an OC-12 connected to over 4 major backbones. The only thing slowing your download, is your connection.

By the way, yes, you guys can kill server usage.

 

Just so you guys know why I am controlling this so tightly.....

I ran a trace today on the server for 12 hours. (10:30am - 10:30pm)

This trace turned up in that 12 hour segment my server put out 1.9GIG of bandwidth. In twelve hours.... do the math and you can see why I am worried about pushing over the limit, and with looking at the numbers I think after one week I am half way there.

I will be figuring something out for this. soon.

Now you guys understand my delima. I guess it got around that these videos were available at fast fast downloads and people came out of the woodwork.

The scary part is I just set upload and download limits yesterday before I started the trace, and I STILL GOT WHORED FOR 1.9 GIGs of I/O (in just 12 hours). I can't believe that.

Basically this machine is on a crash course with shutdown if I dont figure something out. Dont worry... I will.

I have a good idea for something that will not go down, and bandwidth is not an issue... It would require people to purchase space for $5/mo per 100Mb. I can explain the whole thing, and the best part is you create a group and everyone can share each other's files.
