thats why I'm not going for anything new or expensive next spring when I get mine, falling and ****ing up the fairings will sucks ***!!! new fairings especially for a newer R1 will probably cost an arm and a leg I'm guessing! I mean I was checking the fairings for the older Ninjas and its still about $500+/- for a two piece OEM replacement.

SOOOOOOOO FAST!!!!!
Getting a 900+ class bike as a first bike is just asking for trouble.

R6 is a good first bike.

D. Honda VFR750 (a few years old)
E. Honda Interceptor (more current version & now VFR800)
F. Honda Interceptor ABS

The 750 is my favorite bike. It's a breeze to ride, phenomenal
balance, gear driven cams, single-sided swing-arm suspension, VTEC
and that nice digital clock in the gauge cluster. It's by far
the most comfortable of the sport bikes, IMHO. The new one with ABS
is tops on my list. It's easy to ride, hella fast but very forgiving
and you won't see a ton of them everywhere you go.

I've had 2 VFRs and am hard pressed to consider any other sport bike
though I would consider getting a cruiser. Anyhow, there is really
no comparison to any 600 in terms of the total package of refinement,
performance, sophistication and class. It's a kick in the pants to
take one through the twisties.

That last one I had was a 97 (RIP thanks to that F#CKING B!TCH in
the green Accord who decided to make her left turn in front of/into
me). 11 years running as best World's Best Streetbike!

VFR Info

Pick up a 2K or 2k1 and you should be in the price range you were
referencing above.

Gixxer is ok...although the 750 class is pretty much dead and you're paying a premium for a bike that basically performs like a 600.

Kawi is UGLY AS ****....

My vote is D, put a downpayment on the newly re-designed 2003 Yamaha R6 (pick it up in the spring, when you can actually ride it).....best 600cc bike you can buy....
Tell me, which 600 will keep up with a 750 gixxer?

Egronomicaly, 600's aren't much different than liter class bikes. I've been riding for 14 years now. I have (as seen) a liter class bike. My wife has a 600. I love riding her bike as I can really use it to it's full capacity and still have fun. However, The big bored bikes are are super powerful and love to wheel stand with a twist. A 600 is a great/safe choice to start. I'm 6'4" 250 lbs!

Also! Like said, 600's are faster than you'd think. Very quick! Very agile!

The bike gets my vote

The Kawasaki would be the more comfy bike to ride, I've riden both of them and that 600 feels great on the road. My 1200 feels better of course!

They both perform basically the same as well.

It is kind of like the domestic vs import thing as far as sport bikes and cruisers, but there is one cruiser I wouldn't mind having. If you want somthing that feels like riding a bull that has just had it's ********* ripped off, get a V-Max.

suzuki makes winning bikes, yamaha makes equivalent better looking bikes, honda makes comfortable good looking bikes, kawasaki makes comfortable bikes, but im not a fan of their color scheme.

PS look at the Honda CBR600RR

Susuki is definately a winner. However their 600 class has never been what honda has and what yamaha is as of late. Honda and yamaha are on par and kawi (600 class only), I hate to say it is a bit better choice than the gsxr. However, I'm not a fan of kawasaki and would opt for the susuki. The deciding factor being reliability issues.

I knew a guy that was selling a 2000 GSXR 600 which was black and blue. As far as time is concernd now IS the best time to buy a bike and keep it around till spring. You may not save ALOT but you will save some

Sorry, I'd love to work with you but it's cash and carry. I think one of my friends might come up with the cash in the next day or two though.

Get this...

His parents are going to write him a check as a graduation present from high school. I think the largest sum of money my parents ever gave me since I was 14 may have been 100 dollars as a birthday present. Lol.

Oh yeah, bro. The only thing you need a dealer for is a new bike. I'm serious. You'd benefit greatly to geat a loan and hook up with a pal that knows bikes and buy private! A dealer will inflate a used bike's cost greatly and all you get is a 30 day warrantee. Unless you go new enough and pic the remainder of a factory warrantee. However, unless extended. Bike warrantee's are generally a year in length.

So, get the best rate on a personal you can get and BUY PRIVATE!

I've run my friend's 750 multiple times....and it's a rider's race...out of the hole I can get him no problem...on the highway he inches me.

just for reference, with equal riders the R6 is faster than the GSXR 600....espcially at higher speeds...Suzuki really needs to re-do their 600.

With a compatable rider a gsxr 750 will eat an R6. The 750 is without a doubt, is a liter class bike. However, put the R6 on the track with a competant rider and anything is possible!

yea...I want to see a GSXR 750 keep up with an R1 or GSXR 1000

GSXR 750 has 124hp....and weighs a about 30 lbs more than an R6

R6 has 120hp....

Now tell me how the 750 is going to "eat" an R6???

BTW - I'm speaking from LIFE EXPERIENCE, and my friend is a better rider than me..so that's not even an issue.

gsxr 1000, it will not. The R1, the 750 has a greater top speed but does not have the acceleration. Both the R6 and the gsxr 750 weigh 365 lbs dry! I'm telling ya, research bro. It's common cyclist knowlege. Ask some elder cyclist friends.
