Suspension: $64.00 for KYB Dust boots, you can buy same dust boots half the price

As alot of members may know I work out of my garage here in Atlanta and do suspension work for members and anyone. I had this one guy show up at my house with the KYB AGX/Sprints. I told him to get some dust boots because if he does not need them he can always hold on to them or return them. He then pulls out a summit box and out I pulled some red Dustboots exactly like the ones KYB makes for our cars. I asked how much he had paid for all four dust boots and he said $32 shipped from Summit racing. They are red and they use zip ties just like the KYBs dust boots. I think these are better then the more expensive stock ones and just as good/same as the KYB dust boots at half the price.
Just wanted to put this out there for those who are upgrading their suspension and are replacing their torn/dryrotted dust boots. One more thing just cause they are not torn does not mean you do not need to replace them. When I removed someones dust boot it was in tack when I touched it, it broke in my hand. It was dry rotted pretty bad.

It is always nice finding out other companies that offer a good product for less money. Wish I knew about it though a few months ago when I got mine. Oh well at least others still have a chance to save.

You offer a good price on your install too. Some places around here when I was asking out of curiousity wanted in the 350 - 500 dollar range.

These are also available at Advanced Auto Parts

I got mine at Advanced for much less also. I think at the time they were $5.XX a piece.

They are better quality, longer in length and use zip ties.

The OEM dustboots have integrated bumpstops. These don't look like they have bumpstops. I'm not sure if the KYB's have them but I think they do. Just something to consider.

Your correct on that I dont remember seen any type of bump stops on the KYBs. Thats why I posted they were similar at half the price. I am still getting them regardless the OEM ones tend to tear pretty easily. The choice is up to the members whether they want to pay the $30 for two OEMs vice getting all four for half the price.

JAY25: i wanted to ask you about your setup. I know you have Intrax with one coil cut up front, but i dont know what kinda struts you have. Im asking cause im gonna be swapping my current setup now(H&R/Tokico) with Intrax(one coil cut up front) and possibly KYB AGX or Tokico Illuminas, still not sure.

let me know what you think will be best with the intrax setup. And if i go with brand new OEM dust boots wil i have to cut anything? or mod anything else on the suspension before i install the Intrax?

thanks,

Ant

According to the Cattman site, the KYB boots are integrated with bump stops. Did we determine if the ones on the Summit site do?

I dont know what his site says but this is the deal when I installed the the dust boots on one of the members here on the org. I pulled out two of the KYB dust boots and they were the exactly the same as the ones I posted above. Other then that I would not have posted this.

I have Koni adjustables. Fully stiff dampening on the front, 75%in the rear. I do see you live in New York and lots of peeps complain about the bad roads in New York. If you hit a pothole or a nice size bump you will feel it. How ever if you soften the damp on the shock ride will be good. I took Jeff RedmaxPA007 on three runs on a bad street he can post his opinion whether it be good or bad he can post what ever is on his mind. The new Tockicos I cant give any comments on those I dont own a set I can just tell you about my set up which I like and would like to go lower since I am a rice boy. If you go with stock dust boots you will have to cut one bump stop off the stock ones. The bad thing I dont like about the stock dust boots is that they rip easily and they cost a lot. I am about to try out these $7.00 polyutherane dust boots. If KYB uses them hell they must be good then. In our suspension setup there is a bumpstop that are not on the dust boots. It might be two, cant really remember.

well i appreciate it very much and for the link. how long did it take for them to get shipped to you? i couldn't find the estimated shipping times on their site even though it mentions it. i'm just hoping to receive them by friday or saturday so i get my struts put in then too. i'm in mass and believe they're located in ohio so hopefully it won't take over 3 days.

KYB dust boots have shortened bump stops built into them, the ones you have do not.

Pep boys sells dust boots of various colors, exactly like the ones you got from summitracing, for about the same price...
