turbo with VI preliminary results

So I still haven't hooked up the rpm switch yet but I put the car on the dyno anyway. I gained peak horsepower of only 18 HP but the power delivery remained good from 5000 rpm up.

The dyno couldn't capture from 3000 to 4000 rpm, which sucks but I made a number of runs anyway. I did not tune my car this time because of dyno problems.

The biggest difference was about 35 HP at 6500 rpm.
I'll scan the graph tomorrow. the VI performs very well over 5000 to 6500 rpm. If you see my dyno charts, the power used to fall after 5000 rpm very significantly. Now it atually picks up a little! I don't think torque was affected.

I only made 364 HP with butterflies open this time for some reason and about 346 (I think) with them closed at .75 bar where I made 371 HP with the other intake! but there was quite a long time gap between them.

They should create a special section called "VQ monsters" for cars like yours. Oh my god, I want your car

35 HP gain with the VI on a turbo: thumbs up on the VI even with boost

Yeah I should do a home page. I'll look into how to set one up. I need to update some pics with VI. Trouble is with wife and kids, don't have much time even to work on my car. You'll notice I don't post on the org very much either.

Do you drive you car in the winter (or intend to) and if so, do you see any problems with having high-hp on a FWD car in the snow? Torque steer is pretty bad on dry..wonder how it would be on snow?

SprintMax where are you?!?!?!

The hp numbers will increase when Nigel tunes the car... so what you do have to say now? Turning up the boost will do no good if the car can't breath at the top end.

Here's the dyno:

I'll resize it later ...
red is VI open
blue is VI closed

We couldn't get a good dyno cos the pickup for rpm didn't work very well ... does anyone know what the ideal position for the pick up is? I have asked on another thread, but no one responded.

It is right around 5K for most of us but I dont know if the turbo changs it any, but should not be a big deal since it seems both NA and SC vehicles need it around the same place as well.

He's asking about where to connect the dynojets' cable for a RPM signal off the engine.

I'm not sure what your talking about, but it doesn't sound the same.

They always put it around the white/green wire on coil pack #1 (driver's side - front) for me.

Seems to work great.

Yeah, I can see this on my dyno chart (about 5200 rpm or so). Actually, I was looking at a drawing for a 3rd gen Max and they have a delay valve that opens the butterflies slowly when vacuum is applied. Don't think it'll make a huge difference, but I ordered it anyway.

The "loop" that comes of the front wire loom near cylinder #2 is what they need to attach to.
