Have a quick question, Its almost time for me to get my 2nd oil change and I was wondering....do you determine if you need an oil change by the miles that you have driven since the last oil change or the amount of time its been?? kinda uncertain ...Also, i just started the car and I smelt a strong smell as if someithgn was burning but it slowly faded away...

On dino oil I changed oil and filter every 3 months or 3000 miles whichever came first. On AMSOIL 0W-30 (35K oil) I change oil filter every 6 months (Baldwin, they make AMSOIL Oil Filters) and I change oil every 12 months. I only put on about 12K year.I have been monitoring oil with Oil Analysis and have received reports indicating minimal wear.
