Winter driving tips

Well, there was a wee bit of snow on the road this morning, so I felt the urge to post an informative winter driving article.

I'd love to attend the rally school around here, but I am broke, so I guess I'll have to find a beater and troll around some parking lots!

thanks! I just hope people follow the article's suggestions if they can't take a course. I know I see a LOT of cars in accidents related to winter driving over the chilly months ahead.

Good Info

So use your e-barke wisely when snow is around! Can't wait till the snow hits and I can go rally in my local parking lots.

Taken from the article...

The more disastrous scenario is that you have lost control of your 3,000-pound SUV during a snowstorm and are sliding quickly toward a subcompact filled with a pair of astonished parents and their terrified brood.

3,000-pound SUV?

Good article though.

Of course the biggest prob is those who belive thier AWD SUV is immune to the effects of ice.

In winter, the 2wd vehilces I see off the side of the road are usually broken down, hood up etc. The 4wd are always upside down.

Yeah, 3,000 pound SUV. Haven't you heard of the new Subcompact Utility Vehicles? They're all the rage these days.

In the past years of driving limo it seems that towns outside of 495 (north, west and south) get black ice really bad.

Which is exactly where I am. Yeah it is really common here and alot of the back roads are pretty bad as well sothat does not help the situation. Worse part is most people dont see it until they are losing control.

i've been practicing how to control a drift in my local library parking lot while it rains. now i know it will come in handy i suggest you all try it. haul *** (20-30 depending on size of parking lot) turn wheel to hard left, push in clutch, and yank e-brake, then release brake, turn to hard right, give gas, enjoy drift and watch out for poles

The problem with leaving 4 car lenghts for every 10mph is that some bunghole (read: Driving SUV) will always "cut in" and make it unsafe.

Good info to keep in mind.

I know about the evil of black ice personally...unfortunately. (On a highway, no less).

Does anyone know if insurance will cut rates upon successful completion of a winter driving class?
