It depends. Do you want new rims or a new system?

Rims if they are 18"+. The stock 17"s are great looking wheels and replacing them with another set of 17"s is pointless (sorry 2k2_6spd) Also, I would only get rims with aftermarket springs.

Otherwise, go with the stereo.

If you have stock Bose, then I would get rims first. The Bose sounds pretty good.

with all that money you could sponsor 50 impoverished kids for the next ten years.

I'd get the system.

Ah yes, the infamous dilemma, rims or bass?!?

Waaayyyyyy back when i first bought my maxima, i was faced with the same quandry. I made the choice to go with a system first. Hindsight, i'd go with the rims! Some chrome 22's!!!

Where do you live? I mean near me rims are only good for a few months out of the year sometimes, but bass is year round.

I agree with everyone above. If you already have Bose, then get new rims: 18's or 19's. If you don't have Bose, then maybe do the audio and get new rims later.

I hate the stock bose system. If anyone wants to buy it, let me know.

Thats how I feel about the BOSE, for a stock system it is pretty clean sounding and the bass is still very good. Compared to most stock radio systems it is unbeleivable.

Hmmm....I must be getting old. I'd go for the rims and leave the stock radio alone...it's loud enough!

hey man if it gets cold and snowy where you are def go with system, you don't want new rims on in the winter, or any aftermarket for that matter. Even if its not winter I'd go with system, just my opinion.

It does not get too cold in Georgia.

That bose system does not put enough bass out for me.

Just add on a sub then. No need to scrap the whole system yet. A good add-on sub with box and amp installed should run you no more than $400 at the most.

I have added a sub. With the Bose system, a sub does not hit hard because it must be wired to a seperate speaker since it cannot be installed on the headunit. So I will have to scrap the whole system to get any better sound. This is why bose systems SUCK.

This is what sucks people in. It startst with a sub then new backs then tweeters and headunits hehe, at least rims you get once and usually stick with them.

I have never heard of this. Not trying to flame, but I don't know why it would have to "be wired to a seperate speaker" or why it cannot be installed to the headunit. I have $150 invested in my subwoofer system. I bought a used RF amp and re-used an old 12" sub and it sounds great. Not the same quality as the $2-3K systems from the pastm, but there is no muddy bass and no clipping like I was told to look out for. Many manufacturers mack quality adapters to run any amp w/ the bose, other companies (like Rockford) have high-level input that works with bose.

But as others have said, buy whichever you want. For me, I put minimal money into the system and spent the rest elsewhere.

By the way:

The guys at Circuit City and Hifi buys said there is no way to improve the quality comming out of the sub without putting a new headunit into the car.

If yall know how this is possible I would love to hear about it.
