there we go. why is it always about speed. i dont go and race with every accord/civic/maxima like "some" individulas do. I bought the car cause it looks hotter then a maxima, it drives better then a maxima and will stay unique, also it has all the options my fully loaded max did. AND INSURANCE is $100 more expensive a YEAR!

And in the end, isn't THAT what matters? I mean, JEEZ!!! So what if one person here thinks that you're not getting your money's worth, you're the one that has to drive it/own it/love it, right???

190hpKiLLa,

Enjoy your ride. What color is your Z? Is it stock?

Even if you don't plan on modding....up grade the brakes.
I have SS brake lines, Axxis metal matrix pads, and raceconcepts rotors.

Also lots of info for TT and NA Zs on www.twinturbo.net

What kind of mods do you have on your 93?
Intake/Exhaust + Turbo + 100Shot NOS?

Just curious, since you kill Stock TT Zs all over the place.

Actually, I'm glad you said that..
After I replied I had to go to class, but I thought about what you said and the Z vs. Max thing ...
and Val... if you wanted to stay unique, be different, have a car that driver better, look hotter etc.. you should have considered a 3rd gen.
I still miss my 3rd gen, they are getting more and more rare and you could have gotten a nice loaded, VE 5 speed with low miles (would have been hard to find, but possible) for 4 grand or less,
throw a stillen kit on it, drop it, get all the suspension jazz etc.. + bolt ons and you would have ended up with a sick looking car, as well as excellent handling, better driving feel than those of 4th and 5th gens.. more rare, faster, etc.. and in the end, it would run up to the cost of a stock 300ZX of the same year with the same milage.. and you would have stayed in the Maxima family..
also
240SX
fairly slow
but fun and looks great... a 97-98 SE could be had cheap.

but who is to speak of it now..
no need to look back,
as long as YOU like the car... it's all that counts..
everyone has a different opinion

if you're interested in wheels/tires/nice spoiler for that Z, my roommate has them for sale. 17x7 with 215/45/ZR17 for the front, ALT monsoons, 17x9.5 (i believe) in the rear, 255/45/zr17 all falken ziex ZE502 rubber, front has bad camber, belts showing, the rear is probably 60% worn. the wing is a stillen factory replica type thing from a TT. its not high at all, similar to a 3rd gen SE spoiler. not sure what he wants for it all, if you're interested email me and i'll find out details.

Congrats on the ride man. IMO, the 300z is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen . As far as performance, uhh well, oh well. But that is your choice, it is a very pretty car and at least it is RWD. As far as Japanese, supercars of the 90's the TT Supra is one of the most incredible imports I have seen modded of all time. I have seen three highly modified Supras at two different tracks. All of these guys had problems hooking on drag radials, and the best I have seen was in the 11's(and this focker spun through 3rd gear)!!!!

Congats on your purchase. I have a 90 Z N/A and I love the hell out of it. It's not as fast as my Max, but it handles waaay better. I'd say that's the Z's strongest point. Unfortunetly the Z is also a difficult car to work on. Really cramped engine bay. Great car nonetheless. Enjoy!

I was with Val when he picked up the car, and I personally think it fits his style better than a Maxima. The guy who sold it to him just picked up a White 2003 350Z Touring (Black Leather, 6 spd, HID, heated package, 18's) so obviously loyal to the Z legacy. He gave Val a huge stack of receipts (All from a local Nissan dealer). The guy did everything and anything that ever had to be done and pretty much didnt disagree at all with what the service dept told him to do.

As for the car, its not as fast a the 4th gen 5 spd, but it is a sports car (Handling and RWD) as well as the T-Top which I love. The car may not be as mint as Val's 97 SE was but considering the year and price, he really couldnt complain.

NA Z slower than max??? U sure???

Help! I'm surrounded by Z freaks!!

my bro, his friends, and even his GF has Z32 5spds and they are forming a united front to make me feel slow compared to their Zs...

Right now, I've completed my handling mods and have frankencar on 95 auto.
Do I ever get a chance to redeem myself at dragstrip 1/4 run with y pipe alone or do i have to do 5spd conversion or pour 100 shot?

The worse thing is his GF is buying stage 6+ TT...then I will need SC or some other source of boost. Help, this is a desperate cry of a "besieged maxima driver!"

I ran 14.7 first time i took my TT to the track. That was with a bent rod and the engine starting to make extrememly weird noises by the middle of second gear. I was dumb and we tried to drive it home cause the track is far and it the rod blew and cracked my block 15 miles later. The funny thing is i knew that was going to happen but i still drove it. Anyway, i know I cold have run at LEAST .5-.7 seconds faster, if not a whole second. no it wasn't stock, all it had was catback which is good for like 20rwhp ~ those cars are not slow at all.

To anyone thinking of getting a non-turbo 300zx, you could get a 93-97 LT1 Z28:

1)In newer, better condition with lower miles for the same price of the 300zx.

2)Have a much more aggressive look with an SS scoop and rear wing. (imo)

3)Be SIGNIFICANTLY faster

4)Have that awesome throaty V8 sound when done up right

5)Have a 6spd w/double overdrive instead of a 5spd

6)Have 100+ more tq and 90+hp

7)Get almost as good MPG

8)Have a more reliable engine, especially since it would probubly have at least 20,000 less mileage

9)Traction Control

10)Not sure on the handling, but F-bodies handle well

If anyone wants to add to the list feel free to do so.

Now, the disadvantages of the z28 over the 300zx?

1)Higher insurence (both higher then a Maxima)

It is clear that a Z28 would have been a much better choice, given the variables. But sometimes people don't buy car for the reasons above, rather becuase they just "like" the car. Hope you have fun with your Z, it definatally LOOKS fast. Tune it up and boost it!

Congrats on the new car!! I have a 91 NA Z32 my slef and I just love it. One thing that you will notice is how much better the handling is with the Z32, you can take curves at insane speeds, and you will always love it when some nice girl comes over and aks "what kind of car it that?"

I'm sure that your 5 speed Z32 will be just as fast as a 5 speed 4th gen max, my Z32 does the 1/4 mile in 15 seconds and it's all stock.

Enjoy!

U are right. WTF is all this talk that the Z is slow. Its slugish off the line but when it hits 2500 its so fast to redline. The car is heavier and has less torque so it feels slower but it really isnt. Some modified 2+2 with auto and basic bolt ons run like 15.3
