heh...that's cool - it's that kind of friendly competitiveness that keeps all the US Forces strong.
Anyway - I'm not a Marine - I'm the only non-Marine in 7 generations of Marines.
Nonetheless - Happy B-Day Marines!

happy b-day marines!
My best friend just graduated from Paris Island like two weeks ago, and is in MCT (marine combat training) now. He loves it, and is the perfect person for that kind of stuff.
I would have entered but my fat *** is like triple the wieght limit!

I gotta hand it to the jar heads. I couldn't do it. We Air Force "Nerds" don't put up with half the crap you guys do. Not baggin' on ya, just saying it takes a special kind of person. So, how do the Marines celebrate the birthday of their beloved corps?

I was fortunate enough to make that move in my life some 15 years ago and would not change a thing ...
well there was this saucy little girl back in Japan...oh, nevermind

dictionary.com defines squid as..
squid
\Squid\, n. [Cf. Squirt.] 1. (Zo["o]l.) Any one of numerous species of ten-armed cephalopods having a long, tapered body, and a caudal fin on each side; especially, any species of Loligo, Ommastrephes, and related genera. See Calamary, Decacerata, Dibranchiata.
Note: Some of these squids are very abundant on the Atlantic coast of North America, and are used in large quantities for bait

Mtrai760 is one. That guy is unfadable. Read his posts and his attitude is quickly understood.
My Dad, who is an O-6 (Colonel) and was a Private at age 16 in the Korean War, and also spent 3 tours in Nam, and Greneda.
He has 3 Masters Degrees, 1 Bachelors, is the most even-tempered man I've ever known. Nothing makes him go crazy - nothing.
He now is retired, and teaches religious theory to prison inmates and runs a real estate brokerage in his spare time.
All the Marines I've met that are super Gung-Ho and a little crazy are usually young ones that just got out of boot camp, and have never seen a real fight. 4 of my brothers were like this - Until 1 went to the Gulf and the other went to Haiti. They came back different, and much more understanding in general. They both engaged the enemy at some point during their tours. The other 2 were in for 10+ years and eventually they understood it was just a job (one's a cook, the other a Staff Seargeant). They've all mellowed out alot. They aren't psycho at all. I do admit that they were all a little nuts (kinda guy you want in a fight, but not in the grocery store) at first, but that just comes with youth and spirit.
That myth just bugs the heck out of me.
Of course, I am not a Marine, and this is all second-hand experience.
May I suggest your Uncle has other issues?
