You have a 2k2 right? Why would you want to upgrade?

Go for it! The best color in the 03s is titanium. I upgraded to an 03 with exact same options as my 02 for 6000$ Canadian with my trade in. So thats about 4400 American? My car had 25,000 killometers too! The reason I got such a good deal was that it was the last day of the month and they had to sell 3 more cars by the end of the day. I had my 02 for 1 year to the day because we got it on halloween! Oh and my 02 was NOT perfect! My dad took sandpaper to the hood once! But I polished it almost out!

I hope they make a 25th anniversery Max with the 3.5, AE lights (the new style) body kit, and what ever else came on the 20th. Everytime I see one I have to look twice because it looks like a very clean done up aftermarket max. But the titanium edition is very nice too, I'm just a dreamer.

Please don't buy the maxima..

02/03 is the absolute WORST years in maxima history..

There is a pending argument and possible lawsuit regarding false horsepower claims..

And the quality of the maxima is so poor.. I have had problems after problems

You will see that most maxima 2k2/2k3 owners are definitly ****ED off with all the retarded problems that we suffer from..

Sure the maxima is cheap, fast, and lots of features, but its about as good as a GM

Ed i understand your frustration but take note that us .Org members are just a drop in the bucket compared when you factor in all Maxima owners who aren't members.

And even then not everyone here at the .Org is unhappy with their purchase.

Soundmike..

My boss has a 2k2 GLE>. and he is satisfied up to an extent...

If its not the car that has problems.. its the service which by the way ranks so low, that its behind Hyundai..

It kinda makes me regret that i didn't spend the extra couple of grand to buy an infiniti..

Honestly.. i am coming from an econobox mazda protege up to a 2k2 maxima.. and comparing the two cars are apples to oranges..

Proteges are far more refined and of HIGHER quality in terms of relaibility... I always thought nissans were highly reliabile and high quality.. And even my moms 99 maxima gave me the impression that maximas were PERFECT.. her car never breaks down, drives like NEW, and no problems..

I buy my 2k2 with the same hopes, and what do i get...

Nothing but lies and crap service about how the 2k2 was designed that way... Crappy shifting, crappy brakes, crappy paint, crappy throttle response.. NONE of which seems to be warranty items to be corrected..

I believe i have a strong base considering that the normal ORGer are well knowledgeable people..

I just dont want others to throw away hard earned money on a car that already appears to show signs of being a POS...

I am paying this car myself at the age of 24, and i regret it big time..... But i am stuck with it, because i can't afford to trade it in as the depreciation also sucks...

So i will stick with it, modify, smash it.. and try and enjoy it (like my 14.6 sec quartermile

Ed, like i said i understand your frustration but i still stick with my previous post.

I too came from an econobox, a Civic at that. And though it shouldn't even be said i'll say it either way, the fit and finish on my Maxima is definitely better than the Civic. And coming from a family of Honda owners i can make this claim personally.

As far as service goes, i did notice that a lot of people have been given the run-around by their service departments. I guess i'm one of the lucky few i've seen on the board that actually get good service from the dealership and the people who work there.

Granted i don't have an exact car like you do, the shifting of the auto isn't excellent but it's not bad either. Feels like a Honda to me, the brakes are fine as far as i'm concerned. Close to 20k miles and no sign of warpage or any of that sort... and this is even after coming down Mount Washington. Throttle response, albeit not very good, feels like the Throttle by wire system i've tried on the IS300. Paint quality is definitely something i agree with you on, however i must say that after more than a year of owning the 2k2 i haven't had any other chip since after a couple months "curing".

That's okay, at least you're calling me by my nick. Most times i'm mistaken for Sweetsound2001 LOL! Name's Mike

Expectation sucks, i too have my gripes about the Max but like you it's because i expected too much this time around. But i'm still happy nevertheless. And yeah, mods will cure. Mods always cures
