Do you 5 (or 6) speed drivers get annoyed by this when driving in the rain???

If it's raining or wet outside, you go and walk to your car and your shoes get wet.. when stepping on the clutch, especially if it's really stiff (like mine) it's easy for your foot to slip off and it's harder to keep it steady, plus it makes that noise like walking on wet floors..

anyone else get kind of annoyed by this?

.. I got the idea from another thread

No slipping, but I do get squeaks from between the rubber pedal and the rubber on my running shoes. A couple wipes on my Weather Tech luxury mats and all is well again.

My cheap a$$ pepboys 3a pedals don't slip or make noise when they're wet, and I wear 8 different pairs of footwear?

YES!!

The previous owner of my car did get those cheapo pedals too not for looks but rather PREVENT slippage, but i dunno why there isn't one on the freakin clutch pedal. It JUST started raining this week and i noticed that. Definately on the list of my "rain" items i'd like to buy because this is my first time in the rain in my max... so far: new wiper blades, clutch pedal, clear plastic mats, sunroof wind deflector, and probably splash gaurds.

how do u ppl w/ those completely metallic pedals survive on rainy days?!

I assume that the previous owner left the clutch pedal cover out because it may have prevented the clutch pedal from being fully depressed. A lot of pedal covers out there have long screws and brackets that stick out too far from behind.

Re: Re: Do you 5 (or 6) speed drivers get annoyed by this when driving in the rain???

I'm getting AE pedals..

Those 3A racing pedals from pepboys are plastic or something right?

I just thought about this but.. the squeak might also be coming from my rubber floor mats and when i slide my heal on them however, i do slip around the clutch a little bit...

i'm going to try cranking the heat and direct it to the footwell next time to dry my sneakers faster

The only reason for this is the rubber mat that covers your stock floor mat. I always remove mine in the rain, and therefore never have this problem. Otherwise, its like driving another car and you can get yourself in a dangerous situation, especially someone like me with size 15 shoes.

sometimes my foot almost slips off the clutch, that ****es me off.. i have the AE pedals though, and they have decent grip. when your sneakers get dry, then they practically stick to the pedals lol, that can also be annoying

Same size here. The worst part was trying to learn to drive stick in a 71 VW bug with these big feet. When going for both the gas and clutch I would manage to hit the Clutch brake and gas. And since the break would get stuck on my feet it would go down as far as the clutch or gas..... made for some very intresting burnouts in the leanring period.

You are lucky enough to have a 5 spd max, therefore you have no right to be annoyed. Just be glad it's not auto.

Luckily for me I've only recently been able to wear size 14-15. When I was heavier earlier on in life, (6'3 240), I used to wear a size 16 and one time even a size 17(At age 17) even though weight usually doesnt affect shoe size, I really dont know what happened there. Now I'm 6'3 210(Most people say I look like I'm no more than 180) so things are a lot better, Maxima's fit me like a glove.

what's worse is when your foot slips off the clutch and the pedal puts a huge frikkin bruise on your shin. never happened in the MAx, but I did that a few times in dad's 63 Ford.. biggest problem I have is that I can't hell-toe in this car because my feet are too wide.. and I only wear size 11.. I can't imagine how you sasquatch with your size 15s drive a car like this!
