Oh, Carnal, there are people in this country that are racist. This is not a racist country. I hope you love the country and hate racial bigots. I do, and I am white. I also grew up in Brazil, Argentina, Phillipenes, Canada, and Saudi Arabia. And all over the US. I can tell you, this is a great country with problems, and I am sure you understand that.

My time as a bike patrol officer was the best, people are far less intimidated to talk to you when on foot or on a bike. The police cars are intimidating for most.
yup I know, its not that bad here, my brother is Brazilian born, (he looks white and he NEVER gets pulled over when he drives my Lexus and he drives faster and more dangerously than I do)
but its a shame for a country like the US to still have these problems like they do, for all the preaching about equality and how we make a point to point out OTHER country's problems with racism and sexism, that we still have our own that need to be solved.

Now its not bad enough where as to I will be shot in a white neighborhood if I cross the lines but its still bad enough to make me feel like a second class citizen- whenever I travel overseas, I get treated better than I do in my own country... then upon return to the US, I get hassled by customs, searched and interrogated.

I agree, police cruisers are intimidating, and the way officers drive them is even more so, I've almost been hit by patrol cars 2 times, where they just pop out of an alley and without looking just turn on the street- thank God for my big brakes

police over in LA are a different breed, nowhere else have I seen officers quite like them- they seriously act like they own the world and they have the power to put you away for life if they want to, plus they like pulling guns on people

Now you guys, you guys are who I want policing my community!!!

I am only commenting on the subject of cops getting breaks, not about cops in general. One of my good friends(Fairfax County) and my Brother in law(DC) are cops. They have both been pulled over at least 10 times each over the last 5 years and neither has ever got a ticket.

i doubt that ever happens with a pba badge, those things get around more than a cheap prostitute.. everyone has them.. not many people out there have sheilds, and it generally means someone close to you is an officer, since they dont hand them out like hotcakes
Oh, so the cop just happens to see your badge in your wallet. Bet you had it stategically positioned right next to your drivers license. As for the Badges, you can go into any police uniform and equiptment store and buy those. I'd rather see a card, signed with a phone number on the back.

hmmm crap, I better start asking for badge numbers!! thanks for the suggestion!!
haha next time I should say "hmm my family is rich and has a habit of sueing everyone that comes across out path even sued the city of San Diego "

I like this thread for 2 reasons... grat points for both sides and goo manners in general..

I do not like it for the same reason clee stated.

Now my 2 cents.

I like most cops and as most said 1 bad apple ruins it for the rest.

ANd I do LOTS of illegal driving.. when I get caught I pay the price. I don't moan or whine.. I knew what I was doing and accept the punishment.

and the icecream man blows goats

cops do their jobs, which sucks for us speeding and doing illegal things. but for the most part, they act in a reasonable manner. and I respect that.

what really ****es me off is girls that get off with tickets because they're girls. but I guess this isn't just limited to (not) getting tickets...

I could be really really evil and quote the comments that I talked about - including their screennames.

I would love to see how they rationalize and defend their comments in the face of actual police officers responding to such comments.

But I won't.

i hate pigs. read: there is a difference between pigs and cops. pigs abuse their power, harrass teenagers(those younger than middle aged), BS stops, bogus fines, age discrimination when trying to clear a public place (chad aka lowmaxima, i'm referring to the seawall in the summer), the whole thing.
cops are those who enforce the law, cut breaks where they need to be cut, they're fair people.

Maybe it's because I'm busy and don't have the time to answer every single PM/email that gets sent my way.

Well until last summer I was pro-police. But after the run-in I had with one officer I now know there are some policemen with small penises out there just trying to prove themselves. Won't get into details but I am not a young man and my actions did not warrant the treatment I got. If he was not an officer and I didn't live in a small town I would have retaliated. I will rememebr this man's name and will bad mouth him and make his life difficult any chance I get. Being a semi prestigious perosn in my town-my time to get revenge with be forthcoming.

you sound like a reasonable person. I still give officers the benefit of the doubt but realize they are people too whether good or bad. Unfortunately many of the folks on this org are young with what some adults may consider "trouble making" mods like big fart exhausts, neon lights, loud stereos etc. These young folks are constantly followed by police just waiting to issue them a ticket. I see it and I too am followed with the officer just waiting for a mistake. This is wrong. If there is not enough for them to do, then we need less officers.

Better to have too many and not need them, than to have too little and need them.

well it's nice to know you have the time to voice your opinions in matters that don't concern you and to jump into something that doesn't have anything to do with you, but you can't take the time to reply to an e-mail that warranted a response to your actions..

so keep talking sh*t and moderating, you are sooo fantastic in both areas..

pba is police benevolent assoc.

example 1 ..i left my dea shield on my seat when i got pulled over once, and the cop searched my car just cause i was driving away from my house when i said i was going home. he says "why are you going south instead of north", i say "the entrance to the highway is south". they ask me to step out of the car they patted me down and asked "mind if i search the car" "go right ahead" ... i didn't get a ticket because of my dea shield sitting on my seat (it was a total accident,i didn't mean to leave it there) ... it was a total accident ... he walked to me and handed me my wallet (i felt my pocket when he had my wallet in his hand, i was confused) and says "who gave you this" referring the to the DEA shield) i said my dad is a doctor and he knows and treats a lot of police officers .. and let me go

example 2 ... have you ever tried to park in manhatten,NYC very very difficult ... i was at my friends cousins house who lived on a dead end street ... there were no spots except where it said no parking ... now me and my friend both park in the no parking zone (mind you this is the end of a dead end street) and i put my dea shield in the window and she puts a pba card in the window ... we come out later, guess who has a ticket ... yeah thats right, not me

pba cards have become such a common item that they lost all their value. You can relate this to paper money. When there is little of it, it is very important. Just like when PBA cards first came out, not many people had them, which made them very important. Cops sees it and says to him/herself "they must know someone really important to have one, better not write a ticket or it'll be my a$$." But when there is a lot of money, it becomes worthless and you can't do anything with it. PBA cards are growing in number and the cards of the future are DEA. (PBA cards with a badge number on it are still high, i'm talking about plain PBA cards with no badge number on them)
