What to do with my max

i have a 95 max that is in perfect running cond with 105,000 on it. it was hit in an accident but not too bad enough that $1500 would fix the body panels cause thats all it is. do i dump $5000 into it for drop, rims, tires, stillen kit, and custom audi paint.

OR

do i trade it in, get about 2500 for it and drop the $5000 down as a downpayment against a G35 Coupe fully loaded and then pay $301 a month? what would you do?

P.S should mention the fact that i turned 18 2 weeks ago so i will prolly have to try to find a co-signer on the car and i doubt my parents will do it for me.

I say keep the Max, but dont mod it at all. Just keep saving up till you get at least a half way decent down payment. The $5000 you put into it in mods, is $5000 that you threw away when you get the same idea as you have now a year down the line. The $2500 trade in value for your Max wouldnt even cover taxes here in NY for a new G35C. So just fix whatever is neccessary and enjoy it a bit more.

all good imput i guess i need to explain a few more things... the $5000 is coming from the sale of my other vehicle (80 offroad truck). i may be 18 but i also work a full 50hrs a week go to school nights and make damn good money.

and NYC GXE what do you consider a halfway decent down payment **** i thought 7500 was a good down payment most around here in RI do about 3000. also the $301 a month is including taxes, title, registration. i work at an autoparts store so i get a damn good price from the dealers as we are one of their clients.

Well, since we are talking a $35K vehicle, $301 a month sounds way to cheap unless the life of the loan will be very extensive. I just almost put myself in similar situations one too many times and it really pays off saving up and then getting the car without owing anything to anyone. Also, no pressure if something happens, dont have to worry about payments hanging over you and the car having to be repoed. That strategy worked out very well for me and I first started having these thoughts when I was your age.

BTW, do you remember you were interested in my 97 SE 5 Spd that I had on EBAY. We spoke on the phone once, mentioning the off road truck, now I know its you.

Yea, at 18, I'd hold off on a major purchase like a G35 coupe. Usually people who are 18 have a tough time saying what they'll be doing in a year or two. I know when I was 18, I had a pretty decent job, and then just one day went into work and our whole dept was laid off out of nowhere.

That's true of younger ages in general, but esp as young as 18.

Keep the max

Don't dump all that money into it right away either..

you will be seeing how much you can use that money on other things in the next couple of years..

if you find that you have some excess casht to play with, sure go and get wheels or lower it..
you will be strangled by insurance and car payments with the G35... I say wait until you're 2-3 years into college at least before making that jump... by that time, the G35 might cost around 18-20k
