Help Please! Date of Manufacture

I have a 96 maxima SE that I bought from a private party. I need to buy a new headlight assembly and I need to know when my car was manufactured. The options are 2/94-6/96 and 7/96-5/98. Am I right to assume a 96 was made most likely in the earlier timeframe? Is this information found on the serial # or on some other part of the car? Thanks for the help.

If you have the glass headlights, it's most likely that you would need the 2/94-6/96 headlights....but if i'm not mistaken i believe they are interchangable, so if you like the newer headlights you could use them....
