My friend is looking for one for his Maxima. Just wanted more infos about the MP3 player built for the car. Any impression, price, site to buy one would be appreciated. I wonder did they improve on the technology yet. Just saw a report on the AutoPC and they gave it a so so rating on it. I guess it is always better to wait for the later generation(s) instead.

got a Rio 500
I used a y for the headphone jack and split the signal to left and right rcas to a Preamp or signal booster and then ran the rcas to my amp. I have a cd player and bought a radio shack line switcher. And my amp has a subwoofer **** so i dont have to adjust bass from the cd player.
A friend of mine has an MP3 player in his truck. It's a hard drive based one that is about the size of a head unit. It cost him around $300 from some little company, but he's had nothing but problems from it. It was made real crappy and it works about 90% of the time. I'd buy an MP3 player made from a reputable company. Kenwood and Aiwa make headunits that can play MP3 CDs. check out http://www.crutchfield.com for the head units.
