guys chirp the tires in 1-2 shift. (5-Speed i.e)
After installing Borbet Type-R's 17x8, with 235/45/17 tires, JWT POP, and Cattman SS Y-pipe, I went out to test what kind of performance gains I got. Bad News, I was getting very good response untill I made a hard shift from 1-2, the engine rpms climbed but regretfully the speed didn't. I was totally dissappointed, the clutch was slipping. What I dont understand is that this is a new clutch (only 12K miles on it) and this was the first time it was being abused. Also, Get This, the tires chirp good when I launch the car from stand still, but there is clutch slippage in 1-2 shift but in 2-3 shift there is no slippage and it keeps pulling strong. What I feel is that either I am ready for a Stage I clutch or I have very grippy, heavy tire/wheel combination that is not allowing the tranny to accelerate as fast. The only way I can get a good 1-2 shift is by waiting for the revs to catch up to the clutch speed before flooring it again. That costs me a lot of time and I am greatly devastated after spending $2k in one month on this car.
Can you guys think of which component is the culprit in this matter and what should be my next step.
Also, the clutch has no slippage signs under normal driving conditions.

Thanks for your advice.

new clutch

well 12k and not that much abuse.. maybe try when ur wheels are hot. it usually chirps louder. hahah i burnt my clutch within' 2k. on my crx tho.. i did multi burn outs, power shifts, and engine lock up shifts.

back in the ricer days..

but i think your new tires would play a huge roll. i think it's just grippy. try shifting without letting off the gas. you shold b able to chirp. if that's waht u want..

Borbets are heavy +

235 is alot wider than stock. So you will be getting better traction. The heavier wheels are probably harder to rotatate also. These two things will put more stress on your clutch. Which clutch did you get?? Key value Nissan clutch package(which is the biggest piece of junk) or the correct OEM Nissan clutch parts? Or did you get some kind of aftermarket(stock quality)???
