Bellhousing question

I just got a new transmission and it is all dirty and greasy. Just checking if it needs to be greasy on the inside of the bellhousing before I go ahead and clean it. Any problems with cleaning the inside?

Thanks

Since there are a few things that need grease on the inside, should i only clean the outside? Will the grease affect the performance of the tranny at all on the inside?

Clean it all and really good, and put fresh grease back on these two spots.

Thick high pressure grease, like what is used in CV joints.

High temp! It gets hot in there.

Not exactlly, the TOB sits on the output shaft sleve. I am talking about the fork that moves it, it has a pivot ball that needs greese also.

When cleaning, I found that brake cleaner is awesome on the dirt though not 100% necessary. Do not use a blow gun! Don't know about nowadays, but they used to use asbestos on the clutch lining like brake pads.

Thanks, I'll try the brake cleaner. It was hard to clean with paint thinner.

ok...now I see what you're talking about. I forgot about that part. When you said "thingy" it threw me off.
