What kind do you have?

How do you like the way it feels? Good, or bad?

Any pics?

I went to joann fabrics and bout a yard of pleather (vinyl made to look like leather)

it is a perfect match for the seat cover

then I used the old boot to cut a pattern for the new one....that one was easy

the ebrake I had to make 3 times because the first time it was too short and didnt cover the base, the second time the hole for the handle was too small and of course the third time was the charm

if you buy the vinyl and you have never sewn anything before...invest in a thimble cause you are gonna poke the heck out of your fingers with the needle

good luck and happy sewing

How much material do you think I would need if I just wanted to make a Shift boot?

it was only 4.50 for a yard...so just get a yard that way if you mess up, you don't have to drive back to the store to buy more material

I had plenty left over, but a yard gave me room to make mistakes

Is the BMW **** a direct screw on replacement for the original Maxima ****? Also, is there something extra holding the original shift **** on? I tried unscrewing mine yesterday and nearly sprained my wrist. The thing didn't even budge. I'm hoping to find a quality round aluminum shift **** that screws on to the original shifter. So far all I can find are the "univeral" sleeve and screw jobs. Why can't the guys at Voodoo make a **** for my 99 Max? I had one on my 90 Miata and loved it! Thanks for any help.

nope I was hoping that it would be but it was not. I had to dremel the opening to make it a little wider so it would slide down all the way and then I glued it into place so that it won't move.

I also tried to unscrew the factory **** (which is also glued on) dry using a hair dryer for about 5 minutes to see if it can heat and loosen the glue and then use a towel and a wrench or a strap wrench

i gave up after two days cause it looked nasty after all my attempts to take it off...so I just cut it off with a retractable blade. I have no plans on trading the car in so that did not matter to me...all the mods that I do are permenant mods!!

good luck

I just brought the sola luna shift **** which is a Miata shift ****. I have heard alot of great things about it from other people who brought the shift ****. Hopefully it's as great as other people make it out to be.

The width of the Sola Luna is similar to the stock one, if not a little bit smaller. I was expecting it to be a bit larger (at least a little over 2 inches diameter) but after installing it I don't care anymore. It's perfect for me.

Yes its the stock shifter. What you're seeing is the shifter in neutral. The overall height of the shifter with the Sola Luna is shorter than stock/stock.

One thing I had to do was to push up the leather shift boot to meet with the **** base by installing a 1 inch rubber hose on the shifter, courtesy of Keven97SE's post towards the bottom of this thread to have a factory appearance.

What's great about the rubber hose is that I can push the rubber hose down the shifter whenever I want so the shift boot can sit lower and the shift boot will have a more gathered look. Also exposing the black shifter for that "raw" look makes it look sporty too.

here is my sola luna. its on a pacesetter STS. stock boot. the **** is just a tad smaller in diameter than the stock ****, it fits my palm perfectly. i love this **** for its subtle, unflashy appearance.

After having bought 2 aftermarket *****, both of which sucked..

My next shift **** will be one of these:

-Mad Dhans shift ****
-Sola Luna
-B+M shift ****.. leather.. kind of resembles the factory ****, fairly cheap and is a bit wider for a better grip..
