Tinting Suggestion

The GLE already comes slightly tinted, mine is black and I happen to really like the look of an all black car.

HOWEVER I must have clear visibility of the outside from the inside.

What % or kind of tinting would be suggested for a dark exterior look but maximum visibility from the inside?

Thanks!!

Do you want people to be able to see you? If not, don't get 35%. You
will be able to see right through it and it won't look that dark
especially since your car is black.
I'd say get 15%-20% that way people can't see in but it's not too
dark where you can't see good at night, as long as your in the city.
(lights) If you go really dark, like 5%, then you will have trouble
seeing at night.

i've had 5% on the back 5 windows, and 35% on the front 2. It sucks parking in dark places at night, but other than that it seems pretty ok. I like the dark look with the neptune blue paint. At night my superwhite indiglo gauges light everything up..i think that's why cops don't pull me over. I've had this set0up since the beginning of this past summer.

35% may work if you have dark interior. It it the not too hard to see out of at night. 20%, however may be better. My advice would be to sit in a car with the tint that you want.

i got 20% on a black car with black interior ... looks dark as hell at night and when it rains ... if cops are strict around you, got with 35% ... and don't spend $900 bucks to get them tinted like some other guy on here did

35% is ok, you can still see a bit in the car.

Does any one what % the car comes tinted from factory (98 - GLE)?

My car is Black with a Black interior, the lowest I'll go is 35% (to keep it legal)

What would say %50 front and %40 back look like (in a bid to maintin visibility, but give it the dark look; I don't mind ppl being able to see inside)

For entertainment value I saw that Quebec only alows %70 front; How would %70 front and %50 back look like?

hehe who paid $900 for tinting (diamond + platinum tipped??) I'm thinking of going in on a GD at the DC forum for around $130

Thanks!!

50-40% is like clear glass. Only useful property is UV protection if film has it. I have 35% on mine and its a "light" smoke color. Not enought to attract the popo attention.

Go to a shop. Most of mine around here have "slices" of different tints on the front glass to give you an "idea" of how it looks.

Good luck!

I could not find what the laws are for NJ, but I would say that 35% all around would be ideal for you.

35% is kind of light
in the daytime it looks like there is hardly any tint... you can see right through from the outside -> in... looking from the inside out, visibility is not really affected much, you will get used to it very fast. I had 20% and will get 20% again.. at night it looks like 5% from the outside, can't see inside, buy from inside out you can, but it's a little dark, yet it didn't bother me once I got used to it... in the day, it's fine.. from the outside, you can see inside but not well enough to distinguish anything.. just shapes

the 1st 2 cars in my sig both had 20% all around.. but i know, the pics are too dark

20%

20% is the way to go for a black car with black int. Thats what I got on mine, looks really dark if you try to look inside. But when you're inside its not that dark looking at all. Don't have trouble seeing at night either.

30% looks light during the day, but when your driving at night its quite easy too see out, and you can make out most of the things inside.. Its only see through at night if there is a light coming through the front window, any other way it is nice..
