I just won 18x8 Mustang polished Saleen style wheels for $510!

The highest bidder backed out unexpectedly so I won them for $510+60 shipping. They are brand new. You guys think it's a good deal?

Jeffco,

I did email him..and he emailed me back but didn't reply that that part of the email. I emailed him well before the auction closed too. But Harold has these exact rims on his Maxima and so did FiveLitreKiller.

Just making sure bro. Eagle probably makes these rims in alot of different offsets. If it was on a Stang, it's probably 32mm or less. ie.. maybe 24mm.

Late model Stang wheels will fit a Maxima, but the offsets tend to push the wheels slightly outside the front fender on 4th gen Maxima.

Craig-
I thought you wanted a lightweight gunmetal wheel? Those Saleen knock-offs are tanks (~28lbs each). First order of business is to do something about the center caps.

Dave,

I do want lightweight gunmetal wheels, but there is nothing that I really like and especially nothing in my price range. 18x8.5 Konig Caffeines gunmetal that weigh 20lbs. would be a Godsend. Oh well. And like I said the original buyer backed out and I didn't expect to win, and I think It's an incredible deal.

28lbs, are you sure? Harold said with tires they were like 47lbs. each. Lighter then stock 2k maxima rims/tires with an extra inch of width. Whats wrong with the centercaps?

Craig I told you to look at the new Enkie's. They have some really lightweight applications. Nealoc187 told me about them and that man knows his rims.

I'm pretty well versed on the mustang wheels on maxima thing. I helped write the faq on this subject for the 3-gens and I have a set of 96 gt 17x* rims and and a set of 98 SVT 17x8 cobra rims in my garage. Some of the new stang rims are 9" now and the offsets are down in the low 20's. No way are some of those going to fit.

Craig, those "might" be that heavy. The OEM ford mustang 17x8 rims are about 22 lbs each. My 98 SVT cobra 17x8 rims w/ BF comp TA 245-45-17 weighs about 46-47lbs total.

You did? I don't remember talking to you about that. Anyways, I really like the new CP-1's, but I can only find them on discounttire.com. They are listed as "new style" wheels, but I can't even find them on Enkei's site. Besides they would cost a few hundred more then these saleen replica's. Even if I buy the saleen's I could still sell for a profit if I didn't want them anymore.

I like them

but I cannot tell for sure until I see them on.

That is a great price, I would think even if you do not like them you could sell them fairly easily.

Guys, I just found out this guy sells these rims in a chrome version for $239 a wheel! ($956 set). So, I think I'm getting a damn good deal here.

Dave, what's wrong w/the center caps?

Check those out:

Of course they arent the listed price....You can find them way cheaper elsewhere.

Only the Enkei RPM 2 will work on the maxima. The rest..18X7 rims?? You can only mount 215/40/ZR18s on those. We don't drive Civics.

Your not really getting a deal no offense...www.eaglewheels.com sells them for just about that price...polished and chrome is a lot more different. The polished and chrome if you look at the site is like double the price. On the site they are $154 a piece for the 18's so your basically saving a little less then $100 because your buying on ebay. I have dealt with eagle wheels and had the same rim but in silver on my 92 max back in the day and loved them and the co. had fast shipping etc. Although I think a better wheel would be the Enkei rs-6 that dashingmax used to have in 18's...they are abotu the same price, better quality and most likely lighter since the eagles were like momos.

Hmmmmmmmm.....check out this site: http://www.auto-imports.com/wheelweights/a.html They have the 17x8 version listed at 22lbs. So I highly doubt the 18" version could be 8lbs. more.

Maximaracer Wow...damn. HUGE difference between polished and chrome.

*Does anyone know if these wheels will fit a 96 Camaro V6? They have a 38mm offset. Reason being is my camaro friend would probubly buy them off me.*

Craig-

I'd believe the 30lb weight seeing that the link is from Eagle wheels.

I don't like the center caps because Eagle wheels aren't exactly a well respected name and the writing is a bit "cheesy". You can buy their wheels at Wal Mart and most autoparts stores.

If you like the wheels, then that's all that matters. Who gives a flying farge what I think. Make sure you get some hubcentric rings.

I think the +38mm offset will easily work with a 93+ F-Body. In 93, the F-Bodys went with positive offsets.

craig I had those wheels before on my 3000GT. I think they were just as heavy if not heavier than stock 17" maxima wheels

My mother has those on her 00' Mustang GT and they are horrible. They are almost impossible to balance, the polish finish turns yellowish very quickly, and overall the polishing job looks like a blind man did it!

Eagle themselves is telling you the wheel is 30 lbs. So..don't doubt them. BTW, eagle has the 17X8 listed at 28 LBS.

I think you got an ok deal. There was a set of those 17" x 8" that was "buy it now" for $325 on ebay. I posted the link a couple of days ago.

yea he did. thanks for the feedback guys...especially you dave. If I buy them, I will sell them to my camaro friend for $590. I'm glad they will fit! You know more about f-bodies then anyone I know, so if they don't fit, i'm comin' after you!

All I have is like $800 in my account right now and i'm gonna need it for my clutch, becuase God knows it's gonna fry like all hell when my blower goes on...it's a puny thin dynomaxx oem replica. So I can't really afford new rims right now...

Anton, I think i'm gonna send you a PM...

Dave (and everyone else),

I emailed the seller again asking about the offset, and this is his reply:

hi
they are a 5.9" backspace, a bidder that was ahead of you was cancelled by
ebay (I guess they were a fraud).
What's that backspace thing mean?

I don't think the Chevy F-bodies use 5x4.5" lug patterns.

Why not replace the clutch before the blower? Wouldnt it give it a little easier of a time breaking in?
