My Last Post on the .org *My Dad SOLD my Maxi *

Well, last night, I left work to go on break for 30 minutes. I went to the local sub shop to grab a bite to eat. Everything is fine until: im on my way back to work , and this minivan pulls out right in front of me and I am about to hit it. SO i took the turning lane and went around him. SO i get back to work nervous as hell and a guy meets me at the front door. He's like hi young man are you the one driving the MAXIMA i was like yes sir. He was like im officer **** and i was in the minivan. Blah Blah Blah you kno the routine he asks me for my licence. Then he calls my house and talks to my dad. And asks my dad if he should give me a ticket, my dad said no. But that SOB still wrote me a ticket for wreckless driving, when all i was trying to do is avoid an accident. SO i get home. Talk to my dad and My BABY has already been SOLD. In addition i have to quit my job and all this other bogus BS. Well guys ill still read threads from time to time but no more maxima enthusiast. OH and by the way the best part i paid a few grand cash for my 1995 max but i dont get any of it back. Thanks guys, it has been nice

I'm sorry to hear that buddy. Seeing as how my Mom, God-Mother, and Grandma helped me buy my car, they could sell my car whenever they wanted if they felt I didn't deserve it. And I would be heart broken if they did, so I can imagine how you must feel. From what I understand about your ticket and the circumstances surrounding it, you should fight the ticket, I bet you could at least get the charge brought down. Best of luck buddy, its one of life's hurdles you are gonna have to get over it.

i feel your pain man, but life goes on....stuff happens for a reason. maybe THE MAN is telling you to start being self dependent and work to buy yourself stuff you want in your name. Noone can take away the pride of actually working to buy a car, then buying one. CHill out and keep an eye in the maximas for sale forum...you just might find a killer deal there.

okay i'm out.

if you got a ticket, it is on there. oh yeah, contest the ticket... file with the police, get a copy of the police report - show up in court and show that he cut you off and take a state driving rulebook, we have a rule about doing anything to avoid a wreck.. maybe you'll get it taken off not that it matters too much - it would help me rest at night knowing i got atleast a little bit of justice and that cop doesnt get the justice of ticketing me.

and cops, why do they bother calling your parents and asking etc... i hate when they lie to you about the ticket you are getting, heck i even got ticketed on our boat - he said he was just giving me one for lifejackets.. i end up getting 5.

They believe they are doing a good thing by selling my baby. "it has to much power". You just wait gentlemen, you just wait. If my next car isn't a 5 spd Maxima b/c of some unforseen catastophe. It will be something insanely fast. Once i can work again and save more $$$$. im thinking like Supra, SS camaro, Cobra Mustang (all used of course). I have saved my last 4 paychecks so i could meet up with VYRUS and he can do my intake, i was gonna get my windows tinted and i was gonna order my y-pipe. I had big plans. All gonna b/c of an event that occured in the course of .1 seconds

Regardless...your sitaution just plain sucks...sorry man...live and learn though...maybe it would have been better to slam on your brakes and hope for the best.

Presumably this cop was off duty right (he was in his minivan). I didn't know an off duty cop can still give tickets . Sorry to hear about your situation. Fight the power, bro

This sounds really fishy, maybe your parents had the guy in the minivan tail you and set this whole thing up so that you would lose the car because it's too fast. People drive 100 mph + in a geo metro. That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard. Fight the ticket (since you have nothing else to do now anyway ). At least you can prove to your parents that this police officer got the best of you.

By the way, how did they sell the car so quickly?

This whole thing seems fishy. First of all he pulled out in front of you, that was his fault. had you plowed into him, it would have been his fault. You were being a SAFE driver by avoiding this. I would have made that clear. Second he wasnt on duty. Third how the hell did your parents sell your car in a matter of hours? I am not buying this...

I still don't understand how he wrote you a ticket OFF DUTY....as far as I know if an officer is off duty...the most they could do is call you in to the ON DUTY cops......I think it was set-up if it really happened the way it did.

That sux man! My dad still owns my I30, so he can take it away whenever he feels I dont deserve it. I would be so pi$$ed if I got home and my car was sold. I hate how some police officers think they have unlimited power and they are always right cuz they have a badge.

i dunno about everywhere else, but in manhattan, ks, some cops drive around in minivans (with govt plates) and issue tickets to parked cars and stuff. I honestly dont know if they can give tickets for moving violations.

instead of crying, call some police stations and ask if an off duty police officer can write tickets. I didn't think they could either. Maybe they have some a$$ backwards laws in VA. Maybe you're dad was talkin out of his a$$ when he said it's sold. Ask him who he sold it to. He's prolly lying too.

Okay so a cop pulls out in front of you, you swerve to avoid, and he writes you a ticket for basically avoiding hitting him? And now your parents are forcing you to quit your job and sell your car because it is "too fast", etc etc.

WTF? This does not add up...

Are you sure that you weren't MASSIVELY SPEEDING or something, and that the officer just didn't have enough time to see you (because of speeding)?

This is sorta what it sounds like to me... Doesn't sound like we're getting the complete story.

I was going 42-43 when he pulled in front of me and instead of slammin on my breaks and swerving i had to be cool and go around him it was a split second decision in which case i made the wrong one i ****ed up and that is all there is to it. The road i was on is alway crawling with cops the fastest you can go is 51-52 with out getting pulled over so NO i was not MASSIVLY speeding i had just got my license back last night i wasn't tryin to get it taken away again

I would call a police station(other than his) and ask questions about off-duty cops giving tickets. Around my way, I don't believe they can. I had a similar scenario once. He followed me ot work, called in my license, and threatened me with a ticket. A fellow coworker came over and told him, "leave the kid alone." I was shocked. Turns out, my coworker was also a cop and knew that he couldn't give me a ticket! Anyway, ask questions and find out if this was legit. If not, challenge the ticket in court with the information you get from the other police station. Unforchantly, it sounds like your maxima is gone. This may, however, prove to your parents that you are more mature than that. Good luck to ya.

Oh, okay, so you have already lost your license ONCE, and you are only 16, and you expect us all to have sympathy for you. mmmmmmmmmkaayyyyy

Why don't you learn how to drive properly first before driving ANY car (much less a Supra TT or Camaro SS), because it seems as though you have already missed a few lessons.

If your parents are taking your car away, I say it's a good thing, because you'll probably end up killing yourself, and god forbid possibly others, before you even reach 18. And guess what. Once your car is gone, you won't need the job that you had to put mods on it to make it even FASTER, so that you can drive it even MORE irresponsibly!
