Went out to my car this morning and i had frost all over the INSIDE...

i went out to my car at about 9 am this morning and i had frost all over the inside of the car. im talking excessive frost. the windshield was completely frosted over. i had to scrape the ice off like you would the outside of your car. my rearview mirror had a layer of frost just like the windshield. and my 2 map lights and my sunglass holder were also coated in frost. i immediately checked my windows and sunroof to see if they were cracked but they werent (plus its been 30 degrees here for the last 2 weeks so i wouldnt have had them open anyway)

basically i am wondering if i have a bad seal somewhere? a friend of mine suggested that maybe when i turned the car off the heat from my heater was trapped inside and since it was so cold outside it made the hot air inside condence? that seem possible i guess but i have never had this happen to my car before since ive been old enought to drive.

what do you think?

hey, this used to happen to me to with my VW jetta. your friend is right about the heat thing...also if your car mats are damp from rain/snow etc... this can add to this problem in the winter time. i used to have scrape the inside AND the outside of my windshield in the winter!!!

Don't use your recirculator. Bring fresh dry air in when you heat. Your cabin had to much moisture in the air when you parked your car. As soon as the due point was reached, everything froze.

Yep, pull in the dry air.
Also, next warm, dry day you get, leave the windows open a bit.

If this happens on a regular basis, you may have a bad windshield seal.
