i've been reading some of the arguments about this intake compared to Stillens. if the JWT intake doesn't come with the the mounting hole for the oxygen sensor, then where do you put this sensor. also on the stilen intake instructions, i believe it says that the oxygen sensor was for 95s and doesn't apply to 97s. and does the JWT come with a bracket to hold the filter in place.

thanks for any answers.

There are no oxygen sensors on the intake. I believe they are talking about the air temp sensor. Some people have just tied it to the side of the intake.

oops thats what i meant, the air temp sensor

do all 4th gen maxima's have to worry about this problem when installing an intake. what about the cold air intake, does it have a place to put this sensor.

thanks man, helps to clear things up a little.

so let me see:
CAI: must drill a hole in my car

JWT/Stillen: must ghetto-rig the sensor

damn!

well the main reason i want an intake is so that i don't have to keep wasting like $10 on a non-reusable filter. i've already cahnged the filter like 5 times so there's half the cost of a JWT.

What's up with that?

What would it take for these mfgs to put a provision for the air temp sensor for the 97-99's? I know it's not critical, but it is a nice touch. I get really fed up with performance items that aren't OEM or world-class quality.

Yes, the JWT comes with a mounting bracket.

Micah--->

R U saying that the JWT has a bracket to hold the sensor for the 99's? I guess that's not too bad.

Yeah, I mean a bracket for the intake itself. I just taped the sensor to the bottom part of the factory airbox, underneath the Popcharger. Works fine.

wait, when you install the intake aren't you

supposed to remove the entire factory airbox. i'm thinking as long as the sensor is near the air filter it should still work properly.

No, you can leave the bottom half in. It doesn't restrict airflow, and I figured that in case any water splashed up from below, the intake would be protected.

Re: Re: oops thats what i meant, the air temp sensor

i have a 97 with the JWT intake. i just left the temp sensor in the secondary intake tube where it originally was. will that affect the performance of the car? i don't notice anything different.

[/I][/QUOTE]

95-96 and 97-99 Maxima's have different air temp sensors.
The 95-96 Maximas have the sensor on the air box, and its small. The 97-99 Maximas have the air temp sensor on the Air Intake tract that is separate from the air box. The 95-96 have two screws that hold the sensor down, while the 97-99 have a plug-in type. Depending on specifying the year, the 95-96 STILLEN intakes have a mounting point for the air temp sensor on the front of the filter, the JWT, I haven't seen so I'm not sure. The 97-99 Intakes for both companies have no provisions for the air temp sensor, so you're on your own. The PR CAI does provide a provision for the air temp sensor for 97-99 Maximas, same for the 95-96 Maximas.
A bit confusing, but hopefully will help.
