Zaino products

Zaino is worth every penny. It will put an unbelievable shine on your car. I used it several times this summer. Here in Minnesota, salt and winters are hard on a car. I washed my Max. today, looks great. Sure would be nice if you didn't have to order it from the company though.

I've been using Zaino showcar polish for 2 years now. Last summer I spent 10 days using 12-coats of Zaino polish on my SkyBlue max. My arm hurt for a week but it was well worth it.

Waxes

I have tried just about every wax out there. I am always searching for the best for our show cars.

We have found IBIZ ( made from fossil caranuba) and then Griots to be the best, with IBIZ all we use. Zaino is a good product but does not add the depth we see in the others. After all our tests we use IBIZ exclusively.

Here is some data on wax. It is important to note that IBIZ is the only wax endorsed by Ferrari Concourse and the Corvette Club of America. IBIZ also has the highest pure Caranuba content.

I have attahced a photo of my show car at the Internation Z Show last year to illustrate the type finish you can achieve with the right products and techniques.

<img src="http://avalonracing.net/images/convention/Pic00005.jpg">

Wax is an organic material that is solid at room temperature, melts at a fairly low point and is not a polymer. Wax comes in many types, including vegetable (carnauba), mineral petroleum (paraffin and microcrystalline), animal (bees) and fossil (montan). And yes also synthetic.

It has many properties, including hardness, water repellency, resistance to breakdown and melting points (about 160 to 180 degree Fahrenheit). Wax is the last step in car care and serves as a paint protectant and also makes
it shine. It is a barrier against things in the environment including acid rain and other contaminanats that affest the car's paint finish. When wax is applied to the car's surface, the contaminants attack the wax and not the paint.

Wax protects by improving slip resistance, preventing dirt and dust from abrading the surface, preventing contaminants from corroding the paints surface. Wax also improves the appearance of the car by making it shine. It improves the reflection of light off the car, making the finish look smoother and brighter. Manufacturers continue to debate what is more important: looks or length of protection. some manufacturers feel looks are more important than protection,
while others feel the importance lies in how long the finish will last. Waxes contain more than just wax. Other substances are often added to wax to help it work better, making it easier to spread and last longer. Polymers and silicones may be added to give wax more durability. Waxes
typically last one to two months or less depending on the formula and how much of the product is applied. A polished, clean surface will make applying the wax easier, enhance the
appearance and help the wax cover imperfections in the surface. The same wax formulation can be used for old and new cars, as long as the car is prepared properly. Howerever, the age of the car can affect the outcome of the wax job, or the length of time the shine lasts. It has been proven that natural products has the best overall performance on
new and older cars.

Not quite, wax does not make your car shine, it's actually a rather dull and hazy. What makes your car shine in most waxes is silicon, the lovely stuff that endust uses. Notice how quick dust clings to your furniture after you use endust? Silicon is dust magnet, armor all has the same problem. That's why I stay away from natural waxes, not that wax is bad, but the stuff they add to it to make it shine is.

In your testing, did you do an endurance test? I've not found a carnuba wax that lasted more than 2 months in good condition, and in the real world where my car lives, 3-4 weaks for any wax based product is all I get. On the other hand, the zaino goes 4 months under the same conditions with no noticeable degredation in shine or protection, and I've gone 7 months where I still felt it was doing an acceptable job. Like I always say, any product will protect your car if used properly, I choose zaino because I value not having to wax my car monthly. If you have a show car and want it to always look top notch, then you may want a different system. But keep in mind, most of the people here don't have show cars and are more concerned with durability and life than with having the deepest greatest show car shine (although zaino has the best, transparent, 3D shine of any product I've used).

Happy waxing y'all!

Re: Re: Waxes

We have tested for durability and found that with the wax we use IBIZ, you only have to wax two to three times a year. The period between wax we only use Auto Magic Body Shine. I also us ethe same setup on my Durango which is a daily driver.

As for silicon, the worst thing you can do basically. This embeds the surface contaminates into the clearcoat and much harder to get our, even ith a pro quality fine grade detailing clay.

I do agree that most waxes are silicon based, that iu swhy it is critical to stay with fossilized caranuba.

Regards
