How can I wire my power seat to work outside of the car?

My drivers seat is sitting in my house and was wondering if there is an easy way to wire it up to be able to adjust it?

Any ideas?

You need a car battery or some sort of invertor.

i agree. just hook it up to a battery if you want to adjust it only once.

now - for a cheap solution to always being able to adjust it - radio shack sells a ac-12v converter for a few bucks. it gives you basically a cigarette lighter socket in your house. i found an old car charger for a cell phone, cut it in half and wired that up to a monitor while i was testing it in my house. not sure if it'll provide enough juice for the seats motor but it might!

If you own a 12volt cordless drill your golden! just tap onto that and your set.

-OR-

Go out to your car with some speaker wire and just tap onto your battery and run the leads to the seat so you can adjust it quick.
just make sure you power up the right leads or else you WILL burn out the seat motors.

Try a Newmar AC to 12vDc Converter

There's a company called Newmar that supplies 120Vac to 12vDC in various amperages. We use them all the time at work intalling Marine electronics which all use 12Vdc.

Re: How can I wire my power seat to work outside of the car?

lol sorry to seem sarcastic but if you take your car seat out for use around the home, have you ever tried doing an engine swap for your lawnmower?

That would be a helluva John Deere!

I don't think Confused would own a lawnmower.
